$115,899 - $130,733 + up to 15.4% Superannuation Brisbane CBD - QLD, Canberra - ACT, Melbourne CBD - VIC, Sydney CBD - NSW The Role The Directorate of Program Management Policy and Support provides the Policy Framework and associated support to Project and Product Management teams in both the acquisition-focused and sustainment-focused System Program Office environments.
The role will exercise a considerable degree of independence and perform a subject matter expert role.
They will: Exercise sound decision making and judgement to provide expert policy advice; Have in-depth knowledge of Product Management in a Defence environment and are responsible for the development, implementation, compliance and review of policies and procedures relevant to their work; and Work within a small team to support the Director in ensuring effective and contemporary guidance and support is provided to the broader workforce in order to meet the required outcomes for Defence.
Product Managers will also be responsible for actively engaging with key stakeholders to ensure that Product Management outcomes and impacts are well considered across the broader Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG) and Defence policy landscape.
About our Team CASG Strategy and Planning Branch is responsible for best practice in Program, Project and Product Management and for leading and defining new ways of doing business that is responsive to Defence's future capability requirements.
The Program Management Policy and Support Directorate are leading improvements in Project Management and Product Management policy and the provision of SME support to tackle the challenge of overcoming the ever-increasing complexity in undertaking Defence Acquisition and Sustainment.

The successful candidate will bring the following attributes to the role: Prior experience in Product Management/Asset Management, particularly within Defence or the Defence Industry; Ability to proactively, and effectively, engage, collaborate and sustain productive relationships with team members and external stakeholders; Strong problem-solving and issue resolution skills; Ability to develop and maintain; Product Management policy documents and processes in accordance with agreed procedures and standards; Understanding of, and compliance with legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence's mission and policy requirements; Exercise sound decision making and judgement to provide expert policy advice; and Ability to lead and work effectively within a collaborative, small-team environment.
