El1 Policy Officer

We are looking for a highly motivated EL1 Policy Officer to join our team. Our ideal candidate will be proactive, strategic, and capable of leading and managing complex projects.
As an EL1 Policy Officer, you will: Shape strategic thinking by coordinating, analysing, and advising on the electricity market and related issues.Achieve results in a fast-paced environment by building team capabilities and responsiveness, and marshalling external expertise and experience to boost impact.Influence strategic outcomes through excellent communication skills, particularly in writing, and convey complex issues succinctly to non-expert audiences, including in briefings and submissions for the Minister, the Cabinet, and senior executives.Proactively identify issues, efficiencies, and opportunities for reform, and recommend innovative solutions using critical thinking, sound judgment, your own expertise, and an awareness of the broader environment.Develop productive relationships, work collaboratively, and negotiate outcomes with colleagues and stakeholders.Lead and manage direct reports by prioritising wellbeing, progression, and development.Skills and Capabilities: Shape strategic thinking by providing clear advice and analysis to inform decision-making.Achieve results in a fast-paced environment by building team capabilities and marshalling external expertise and experience.Communicate with influence and convey complex and sensitive issues succinctly to non-expert audiences, including in briefings and submissions with advice for the Senior Executive, the Minister, and the Cabinet.Confidently work and negotiate with stakeholders including Commonwealth departments and agencies, State and Territory governments, and project proponents.Proactively identify issues, efficiencies, and opportunities for reform, and recommend innovative solutions using critical thinking, sound judgment, your own expertise, and an awareness of the broader environment.Lead and manage direct reports by prioritising wellbeing, progression, and development.Desirable Qualifications: Tertiary qualifications in economics, finance, law, public policy, engineering, or related disciplines are useful but not required.These roles are available for s26 transfers and 12 month non-ongoing contracts.
