This federal government department is looking for a high-performing Legal Policy officer Your new company This department is responsible for shaping Australia's future by driving economic growth and job creation. This branch is responsible for providing policy advice to support the regulation of offshore oil and gas resources. Your new team is responsible for the regulatory framework that underpins the sector. Your new role Your new position will see you responsible for developing new legislation to regulate future decommissioning of oilfields. Your position will include the following: Developing policy and preparing drafting instructions and explanatory materials for new Bill and regulations Reviewing and understanding offshore petroleum legislation Working with the OPC and other legal units within the department to develop new legislation. Working across the broader branch on any policy, legal or regulatory reform work. What you'll need to succeed In order to be successful, you will need to be a hard-working public servant as well as the following: Extensive experience in legislation development and regulatory reform within an APS setting A strong legal background with the ability to interpret legislation Ability to work and lead teams of hard-working professionals Well-developed and strong stakeholder engagement experience to build relationships with diverse stakeholders. A baseline clearance as well as past APS experience.
