The Opportunity
This is an initial 3-to-6-month contract opportunity to join a medium size, central Government department. You will be managing a small team of approx. 5 staff, providing both technical and leadership support to your immediate team, as well as supporting other services in the branch such as social media or web teams.
You will lead a team of designers and provide advice on the design and production of various digital content, for both internal and external audiences, across both online and printed publications. You will be required to manage a variety of projects and must be capable of leading all aspects of a creative studio workflow, as well as have the ability to consult with stakeholders to translate their needs into high quality design solutions for government.
This is an initial 3-to-6-month contract opportunity and may extend further. A temporary S26 transfer may be considered.
Key duties will include:
Manage graphic, videography and photography content planning and implementation across a range of digital and social channels.
Manage the Departmental brand.
Stakeholder engagement: Have a strong client focus, developing networks both internally and externally.
Provide high-level strategic advice to clients, the Senior Executive and internal and external stakeholders as required to ensure priorities are met.
Process, development and strategy: Contribute to the management and development of the Branch and its role as a valuable and effective partner in the delivery of the Government's priorities.
Skills and Experience required:
Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or a minimum of 5 years professional experience in Graphic Design.
Demonstrated highly developed graphic design skills (both technical and conceptual) with the ability to translate designs and concepts across a variety of media.
Highly skilled in both the Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office Suite.
Demonstrated ability to interpret and define creative briefs and deliver high-quality executions from concept development through to final production.
Experience in developing and working with branding standards and guidelines.
Experience in website and digital design including the ability to work with developers.
Experience in video production and animation.
Up to date understanding and awareness of the design, digital and publishing industries.
