As the Technical Staff Officer - Electro-Explosive Hazards (TSO-EEH) you will be the lead Defence subject matter expert in this specialist field. You will deliver Defence policy and provide specialist advice for the protection of Defence guided weapons and explosive ordnance from electro-explosive hazards. You will lead and mentor the community of EEH specialists from other areas of Defence.

The duties of the Executive Level 1 TSO-EEH include the following:


Lead the development of Defence policy for the management of electro-explosive hazards.Provide specialist advice contributing to the development of explosive ordnance publications.As a member of a team, contribute to the development of policy to ensure guided weapons and explosive ordnance used by Defence are safe and suitable for service.Conduct electro-explosive hazard assessments.Provide specialist advice on electro-explosive hazards to other areas in Defence.Lead and mentor other electro-explosive hazard specialists from the broader Defence guided weapons and explosive ordnance enterprise.Represent Defence on international committees looking into electro-explosive hazards, in particular NATO.Work collaboratively with stakeholders and subject matter experts to achieve Defence outcomes. $115,899 - $130,733 (plus Super and 10% BDCP)Campbell Park - ACT The Role

The additional payment is a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP) which enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the rate of salary otherwise payable under the Enterprise Agreement (EA) to some or all of the jobs within a critical occupation(s) or discipline within a workplace. Applicants engaged into a BDCP position must consider the following. BDCPs provide remuneration in addition to the Defence Enterprise Agreement (EA). 

This arrangement is subject to meeting eligibility criteria and is subject to annual review. Should your performance fall beyond requirements or the eligibility criteria not be met, your eligibility for the BDCP may be reviewed and ceased. It may also be ceased should you change positions or the requirement for the BDCP is no longer necessary, as determined by Defence. Should the BDCP be ceased you will be advised and your BDCP additional payment will cease.

About our Team
The Explosives Safety Regulatory Framework (ESRF) is an outcome focused, principle based framework, which aligns with Commonwealth Work Health and Safety (WHS) legislation for managing the risks that Explosive Ordnance presents. The ESRF integrates with and supports Defence work health and safety policy and other related Defence regulatory systems that enable Defence Capability.

The Directorate of Ordnance Safety (DOS) administers the ESRF for Defence, maintaining the knowledge necessary to inform the management of critical explosives safety risks within the Defence Enterprise. This provides exciting opportunities to build upon your existing engineering experience, developing specialist explosives and engineering skillsets, and advising innovative and novel Defence projects.

Our Ideal Candidate
Whilst mentoring and on-job training will be provided in this specialist field, you will have a well-developed understanding and knowledge of electrical engineering, radio frequency engineering, and radio frequency transmission and reception theory. A relevant engineering degree is mandatory. 

You also have:
