Location: Canberra, Melbourne, Sydney Position Type: Ongoing Salary: $90,199 - $136,660 About the role The Operational Strategy Branch is seeking motivated people to fill APS6/EL1 positions to support the Intelligence Group SES, and the CEO to effectively deliver on the ACIC's priorities, operational goals and legislative requirements through informed decision-making and group wide support.
As the Assistant Director Governance and Reporting, and working to an EL2 and as the Senior Governance and Reporting Officer, working to an EL1, you will provide support to the Intelligence Group through delivery and coordination of key documentation that aids in high-level decisions making, and fulfilling reporting and governance obligations.
You will work closely with a range of stakeholders across the agency and Intelligence Group, the Ministerial and Governance Team, Executive Branch and our partner agencies.
Your team is responsible for the strategic coordination of a number of key enterprise performance functions for Intelligence Group, including governance, risk management, external inquiries, performance reporting and evaluation, drafting ministerial correspondence, Senate Estimates and media enquiries.
Key responsibilities: EL1 Assistant Director Lead and manage a small team who provide high-level support to Intelligence Group committees, including the management, coordination and preparation of agenda and papers, and recording meeting outcomes Oversight, quality assure and support Intelligence Group ministerial submissions and correspondence to the Attorney-General's Office Leading a team to coordinate the Intelligence Group's participation in Parliamentary committees and hearings and responses to Government inquiries Leading Intelligence Group's strategic planning processes (business planning and Corporate Plan)  Building and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships and working collaboratively to achieve business outcomes Report on Intelligence Group performance, including legislated reporting (such as annual reports) Providing and developing a corporate knowledge library and expertise across a broad range of activities potentially relating to the work of different program areas.
Provide expert advice on policy, and undertake complex problem solving and issues management for internal and external stakeholders across the Intelligence Group.
Provide strategic advice to the Intelligence Group Senior Executive, contributing to and supporting its strategic direction.
APS6 Senior Officers Provide high-level support to external committees, including the management, coordination and preparation of agenda and papers, and recording meeting outcomes Oversight, quality assurance and support in the preparation of intelligence group ministerial submissions and correspondence to the Attorney-General's Office Coordination and development of briefings for the Intelligence Group's participation in Parliamentary committees and hearings and responses to Government inquiries Coordinate the Intelligence Group's strategic planning processes (business planning and Corporate Plan)  Measure and report on the Intelligence Group's performance, including legislated reporting (such as annual reports) Provide high-level support to Intelligence Group internal governance committees, including the management, coordination and preparation of agenda and papers, and recording meeting outcomes Support Intelligence Group business areas with internal policy updates and reviews Our ideal candidate To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate the following experience, skills and attributes: Demonstrated coordination skill and the ability to operate in a fast-paced environment, achieve results in tight timeframes while managing competing priorities Strong writing skills and excellent attention to detail in managing day to day tasks and ensuring that briefs and documents are delivered in a timely manner and are of high quality An ability to communicate effectively and will influence, and where appropriate tailor messages according to difference audiences Demonstrated stakeholder engagement skills and working effectively cross teams and building processional and collaborative networks.
Experience in policy and legislation environments or ministerial, parliamentary, Cabinet or government relations roles.
Experience delivering governance and secretariat support/and or policy outcomes.
The ability to exercise autonomy and initiative in team management and allocation of resources to meet objectives.
Eligibility Citizenship – To be eligible for employment with the ACIC, applicants must be an Australian citizen.
Security Clearance - The Australian community expects ACIC employees to maintain the highest levels of security and integrity.
Successful applicants will be required to obtain and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting 1 security clearance.
