Assistant Directors work as senior members of the team, responsible for leading the delivery of high-quality, accurate and consistent analysis and advice in providing secretariat services as required.
Duties: Lead the preparation of high-quality meeting documents, including, agendas, briefing, papers and minutes often in a pressurised environment.
Maintain professional and constructive relationships with stakeholders.
Liaise with other policy, regulatory and operational areas in the department and across government to achieve area and agency goals.
Lead and building the capability of team members to support the duties listed above.
Required experience/skills: Ability to deliver a wide range of high-quality work that is clear, concise, logical, and well-constructed in a time-pressured environment.
Ability to communicate concisely, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to provide high quality advice, including in collaboration with other areas of the department, on complex areas of policy to the minister and senior executive.
Ability to be future thinking and provide innovative solutions to complex issues through collaboration with internal and external subject matter experts.
Desirable experience/skills: Demonstrated experience working across complex topics in a sensitive environment, including where you have relied on information from others in preparing consolidated advice.
Demonstrated experience in working in a secretariat role or similar and/or experience in briefing senior executives and ministers.
Well organised with strong project management, administrative skills and exceptional attention to detail.
Managing complex stakeholder relationships, including breaking down barriers to facilitate collaboration.
