If so, this role is for you. The Robotics and Autonomous Systems Implementation and Coordination Office (RICO) sitting as part of Future Land Warfare Branch is undergoing a period of significant change as Defence acquisition transitions to a more programmatic, integrated and holistic approach to capability development. This requires innovative thinking, professionalism, financial planning and stakeholder engagement skills and an ability to achieve results. To help us realise this, we need a dynamic, innovative, resilient Assistant Director to work closely with the Program. The Assistant Director is responsible for the effective and efficient management of the Program on behalf of the Program Director. This role oversees all Program planning and support functions, and ensures sufficient resources to deliver the Programs strategic objectives. The Assistant Director will: Support the delivery and implementation of the Director's strategic intent, including the development of the Program strategic narrative aligned with this intent Lead the development and delivery of key program artefacts including the Program Strategy, Program Governance Plan, Program Management Plan, Program Structure and Workforce Plan, and Business Management Plan Leads the development and management of program budget, operational functioning, and program level risks & issues Maintain contemporary knowledge of the program deliverables and represent the Program at forums and through industry engagement Maintain contemporary knowledge of Defence strategic direction and supporting artefacts; legislative, financial and administrative frameworks; and government decision-making processes and regulations, to ensure programmatic compliance. This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP). This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Agreement (DEA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability. The RICO team forms part of Army's Future Land Warfare branch, and is supporting Army to be Future Ready by: Inspiring and promoting Army's experimentation, research and development of disruptive technology and its potential applications creating hands-on opportunities for Army to explore and harness the latest cutting-edge technology driving Army innovation through education and advocacy Being a trusted leader and advisor to Army on emerging and disruptive technology. Our Ideal Candidate We are looking for dynamic individuals with the drive and commitment to manage complex tasks in a busy and changing working environment. We will assess your suitability for the role against the following selection criteria: The personal drive, resilience and resourcefulness to achieve results in a dynamic environment. Well-developed leadership skills that will allow you to lead a complex, integrated team made up of APS, ADF and/or contractor staff. The ability to build and sustain internal and external working relationships with key stakeholders. The ability to think strategically and innovatively and drive change to align actions with broader organisational needs. Experience with finance/costing, parliamentary document writing and submissions are required.
