Salary Range: $122,949 - $135,013+ Attractive Superannuation Contact Officer: George Pipertzis - (03) 9284 6113, ****** The Defence Service Homes Insurance Scheme (DSH Insurance) is a national scheme providing home building insurance to eligible veterans, war widows and Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel. The Assistant Director – Products, Pricing & Underwriting is responsible for the insurance underwriting program, management of premium pricing and the ongoing management and future development of insurance products. The role is also responsible for design of business processes and managing the compliance and assurance program for the Scheme. The position can be located in any site that DSH Insurance currently has a presence - Melbourne, Brisbane or Canberra.
Duties Direct and oversee the insurance underwriting program with responsibility for ensuring integrity of underwriting activities and processes. Provide assistance to underwriters on more complex applications and/or underwriting assessments. Manage and coordinate implementation of premium pricing reviews, including modelling and methodology in conjunction with external actuary. Manage and coordinate development of new products and improvements to existing products or product lines including evaluating and ensuring design feasibility and design optimization. Determine, negotiate and agree on in-house quality procedures, standards and specifications, assessing policyholder requirements and ensuring that these are met. Perform design or redesign of business processes to improve operational efficiency including analysing current effectiveness, implementing, and updating of processes so as to ensure business goals are met and develop strategies to improve workflow effectiveness. Lead and manage the Quality Assurance & Compliance team in line with the General Insurance Code of Practice (GICOP), and other insurance related legislation. Manage the ITC requirements of the scheme. Manage resources effectively to ensure service standards and business objectives are achieved in DSH Insurance's service delivery to policyholders, including management of a geographically dispersed team in up to three locations. Provide advice as required to the National and General Managers of the Defence Service Homes Insurance Scheme, the Defence Service Homes Insurance Scheme Advisory Board and other internal and external stakeholders. Eligibility Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS). All applicants external to DVA offered employment will be required to successfully undergo a pre-engagement screening check, even if they have a security clearance. The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance. Mandatory Requirements Previous experience working within the General Insurance Industry, in management roles with demonstrated ability to meet or exceed targets. Where a non-ongoing position is offered, the role will be filled for an initial specified term of up to 23 months.

Successful applicants engaged into the APS will be subject to a probation period.
