Location: Canberra Position Type: Ongoing | Full-time Salary: $113,355 - $136,660 About the role The Assistant Director, Physical Security provides strategic and operational physical security support and advice to management and staff in accordance with Australian Government protective security policy and agency specific risks.
The occupant of this position will have significant experience in physical security, preferably in a law enforcement and/or intelligence environment.
They will have strong understanding of and experience in ensuring compliance with the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) and Australian Government Information Security Manual (ISM).
Key responsibilities: Develop, review and implement ACIC protective security policies/procedures and strategies to ensure appropriate security arrangements are in place to address identified risks.
Undertake Security Risk Assessment (SRAs) and security audits in accordance with the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSFP) and risk management standards.
Provide high quality strategic and operational security advice, briefings and reporting to the Director of Security and ACIC Senior Executive Respond to security incidents, analyse and investigate as required and monitor and assess ACIC threat environment.
Influence the security culture and prepare and deliver security awareness training.
Overseeing the development and delivery both personnel and physical security projects, policies, procedures and services.
Project manage ACIC Physical Security capital and operationally funded security works in all ACIC facilities and ensure risked based and appropriately zoned ACIC offices.
Be the designated ACIC Communications Intelligence Security Officer and manage the ACIC Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF).
Liaise with key internal and external stakeholders including government departments and law enforcement agencies.
Our ideal candidate To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate the following experience, skills and attributes: An effective communicator, including verbal and written communication and security awareness presentation skills.
Ability to interpret and apply legislation, regulations, corporate objectives, instructions and other material.
Demonstrates an evidence and risk-based approach to protective security, and the capacity to adapt that approach to complex and sensitive situations or operating environments A customer service focus, with the ability to positively contribute toward the development of agency security culture Build and sustain positive relationships with team members, and internal and external stakeholders, demonstrating self-awareness and self-reflection.
Eligibility  Citizenship - To be eligible for employment with the ACIC, applicants must be an Australian citizen.
Security Clearance - The Australian community expects ACIC employees to maintain the highest levels of security and integrity.
Successful applicants will be required to obtain and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting 1 security clearance.
