Salary Range: $122,949 - $135,013 + Attractive SuperannuationContact Officer: Sharon Mulligan 0476 208 143 ****** Parliamentary Support unit provides administrative support between the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Minister Office. The Parliamentary Support Unit ensures the department meets its obligations to the Minister, Senate and House of Reps. The team supports the quality assurance and movement of briefs and submissions, question Time Briefs, responses to Questions and Notice and provide secretariat support for the departments officials at Senate Estimates. We are a small supportive team who relies on each other for expertise and knowledge.The ideal candidate should have an understanding of Parliament and its processes and how these relate to DVA as a government department, possess excellent organisational and interpersonal skills and be able to work under tight timeframes with competing priorities while leading the strategic direction of the team.The ideal candidate has experience in parliamentary and Cabinet processes and procedures and demonstrate a strategic understanding of the impact and implications of these to DVA and the whole-of-government. They are process driven and outcomes focussed, preferably with a sound working knowledge of PDMS. The ideal candidates will have spent time in a Department Liaison Officer role or Cabinet Liaison Officer role. Time in these roles will be highly valued in this recruitment round.DutiesManage, lead and coach a team that is responsible for the timely and efficient flow of information and documents between DVA and the offices of the Ministers for Veterans' AffairsManage, lead and coach a team responsible for the delivery of timely, high quality documents that meet DVA's parliamentary and cabinet, including Submissions, Briefs, Question Time Briefs Parliamentary Inquiries, all Senate Estimates related processes and responses to Questions on NoticeProviding high level, balanced and timely advice on policy, administrative, technical or professional advice and assisting departmental staff in relation to parliamentary and Cabinet procedures and processesLiaising with Executive, departmental staff, portfolio agencies, external departments and the MOSupervise the preparation for Departmental appearance before Senate Estimates, and coordination and tracking of responses to Questions taken on NoticeSupervise and monitor the submission of Cabinet documents and the coordination of departmental comments on Cabinet productsManaging regular reporting via PDMS for key stakeholdersRepresenting the Section or Branch at internal and external meetings and develop and maintaining productive relationships with key stakeholdersContributing to business improvement activitiesOther duties as directed.EligibilityUnder section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS).All applicants external to DVA offered employment will be required to successfully undergo a pre-engagement screening check, even if they have a security clearance. The screening check is conducted in accordance with the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework requirements.The successful candidate will be required obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance.NotesThis recruitment process is being used to fill ongoing and/or non-ongoing position/s.
