Working with a dedicated and professional team, your ability to quickly grasp complex processes will be invaluable in this role. It is a fast-paced position that deals with multiple deadlines and priorities.The unique and complex issues that arise in the ever-changing environment of the Scheme require strong initiative and problem-solving skills to develop robust solutions and improvements.As an Assistant Director, you will lead a small team committed to achieving results for the Scheme. The role will assist in the management of the invoicing and debt management processes related to recovering redress liabilities from institutions participating in the Scheme.You will also be involved in the broader financial management of the Scheme. With the support of your Director, you will exercise professional knowledge and judgment to assess participation risks for the institution and the Commonwealth to support financial outcomes for the Scheme.Our ideal candidate will have an understanding and/or experience in financial accounting, along with experience using SAP and intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills, or the ability to quickly acquire these skills. You should also have excellent stakeholder management skills.Eligibility / Additional Requirements:To be eligible for employment with the Department of Social Services, you must be an Australian citizen. An applicant's suitability for employment with the Department will be assessed through a pre-employment screening process, which will include an identity and criminal history background check.Eligibility to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance:The suitable applicant must also obtain and maintain a security clearance conducted by the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA). Applicants must be able to establish their background as checkable to be considered eligible for a security clearance. Any gaps or periods of time spent overseas for 12 or more months (cumulative) that cannot be verified by an Australian referee are deemed uncheckable, rendering the applicant ineligible for a security clearance. Background history must cover 5 / 10 years (Baseline / Negative Vet 1 or Negative Vet 2) of employment, education, residential, criminal history, and anything else specified by the AGSVA.
