The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) implements the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), which is one of the biggest social reforms in the country since Medicare. As an Agency, we support more than 600,000 participants with a significant and permanent disability, and the families and carers of those living with disability. For many Australians, this will be the first time they receive the disability support they need. The NDIA is designed to enhance the quality of life and increase economic and social participation for people with disability and will mean a peace of mind for every Australian.

EL1 Assistant Director Intergovernmental Reform Coordination
This position sits within the Intergovernmental Reform Coordination team. The team acts as a conduit between business areas and other Federal government agencies to deliver under areas of reform and government commitments. This can include royal commissions, Australia's Disability Strategy, and NDIS Review. The team also supports the agency with coordination of the Federal budget process, including keeping track of Cabinet commitments, drafting progress, comebacks, and executive working groups. The team works in a fast-paced and often changing environment.
EL1 Assistant Director Intergovernmental Relations
This position sits within the Intergovernmental Strategy team. The team plays a vital role in fostering collaboration, coordination, and communication on key initiatives, NDIS reforms, and policy objectives. This team works to build and maintain strong relationships with various government stakeholders, facilitating open communication and coordinating efforts across state and territory jurisdictions. The team works in a fast-paced and often changing environment.
Where you can add valueThe EL1 Assistant Director is accountable under broad direction to undertake very complex work that delivers quality outcomes across the Government functions of the NDIA. The position is an important team leadership position within the NDIA and will have delegated authority and responsibility to resolve issues and risks across wide-ranging activities of substantial depth involving significant detail. The role requires providing leadership, planning, resource management, performance management, and decision making for the Team Membership and assigned Contractors working within the work area.
The EL1 Assistant Director is responsible for actively managing key internal and external stakeholder relationships and where required will represent and negotiate on behalf of the NDIA to advance the NDIA's interests across a range of forums.

They will also have experience in developing high-level written reports and briefing materials. You will have the ability to navigate complexity and uncertainty with personal drive, sound judgement, and integrity. You will be organised, proactive, and able to excel in a fast-paced work environment. As the subject matter expert, you will have the ability to quickly absorb information and provide strategic advice and recommendations to Directors and Branch Managers. Your experience and sound leadership skills will inspire your team to strive for the best outcomes.

We intend to fill this role in an ongoing capacity; however, non-ongoing roles up to 12 months with the possibility of extension up to 2 years may be offered. A merit pool will be established that may be used to fill similar positions (ongoing and non-ongoing) within the next 18 months.
Successful candidates will be required to undergo a pre-employment National Police History check, Worker Screening check and/or Working with Children Check (where required) and provide evidence of Australian Citizenship.
