The Murray-Darling Basin Authority (MDBA) is an independent government agency which, in partnership with Basin governments, manages the Murray–Darling Basin's water resources in the national interest. With the enactment of the Water Act 2007, the MDBA was established as an independent expertise-based statutory agency.
The MDBA aims to achieve a healthy working Basin for the benefit of all Australians. The Murray–Darling Basin contains a rich diversity of natural environments that are unique in Australia and the world. The Basin is also crucial to Australia's economy and home to 2.3 million Australians, including people from over 50 First Nations. How we manage the Basin as a whole connected system, manage our water carefully, and protect it for future generations is set out in the Murray-Darling Basin Plan.
The Assistant Director, Governance provides high quality advice and guidance to all staff of the MDBA on all governance matters. The role works closely with all divisions of the Murray-Darling Basin Authority and other agencies of the Australian Government.
The key duties of the position include:Support, implement and maintain the MDBA's governance arrangements and approach to compliance with fraud, corruption and integrity frameworks.Deliver against an established work plan, lead regular reviews and support ongoing improvement activities.Develop and embed user-centered guidance, tools and templates to uplift and support the agency in connection with conflict-of-interest declarations, official hospitality, gifts and benefits guidelines, and sensitive water market information protocols.Monitor and maintain the MDBA's policy and procedures register and provide quality assurance as required.Prepare management reporting to the MDBA's Executive Board and Audit and Risk Committee including sharing insight into trends and recommended courses of action to improve compliance, simplify internal processes and otherwise improve fraud, corruption, and integrity capabilities.Actively manage stakeholders through liaison with the Executive, committee Chairs and MDBA staff.Provide executive support and assistance on key issues.Eligibility RequirementsTo be eligible for a position, you must be:
