EL1 - Assistant Director Cyber Security, Strategy, Architecture & Cyber SecurityOrganised within the Chief Operating Officer Group within the department, Information Technology (IT) Division's purpose is to connect people and technology, empowering the department to excel.IT Division is responsible for the consolidated provision and support of stable and secure IT Systems, applications, and services to all department users across all States and Territories, including our Indian Ocean Territories and Norfolk Island, as well as supporting seven Ministerial offices, six Groups, and coordination with portfolio entities.This new role is based in the Cyber Security Team within the Strategy, Architecture & Cyber Security Branch.We are looking for motivated and energetic people to join our team as we progress a number of exciting cyber modernisation and uplift activities that will better protect Department systems and business. This is a new role for the division and an opportunity to build a capability from the ground up that will be at the forefront of our modernisation, with plenty of scope to make it your own.As an Assistant Director in the Cyber Security Team, you will be responsible for the design and implementation of next generation cyber capability, and will head operational activities such as incident response, threat intelligence, and security testing. Your key responsibilities will include:Design, implement, and test cyber security solutions – engage with stakeholders across the department and leverage best practice to develop requirements, configure tooling, and establish processes for new cyber security capability.Cyber operations – grow efforts to detect and respond to cyber incidents, perform digital and forensic investigations, and leverage intelligence sources to mitigate cyber threats.Technical cyber advice and assurance – evaluate and test business and corporate systems and applications against common attack vectors, prescribed hardening and vendor guidance, and provide robust advice on the correct implementation of security controls.People and process – develop repeatable methods and ways of working that get the best out of cyber team members, foster and uplift security awareness culture, and implement programs to develop cyber skills and careers.We are looking for someone who is passionate about contemporary cyber technology and is comfortable working with cloud platforms. Knowledge and experience with SIEM, cyber threat intelligence, vulnerability management, and threat mitigation is essential.In this role you will be supported to build your cyber security skills through learning and development opportunities and working alongside experienced IT leaders. There is also the opportunity to become a product expert and receive micro credentials in security tools such as Sentinel.The team will be growing over the next year, and this role will have an opportunity to mentor and develop other team members over time.Who are we looking for?Our ideal candidate will set and translate vision into tangible actions, manage and inspire a connected and engaged team, influence stakeholders, resolve complex issues, and deliver outstanding cyber capability.
