You will drive and champion technology initiatives to improve both quality and coverage of monitoring, detection, and response capabilities. You will be given a high degree of autonomy to shape the team, culture and steer the security operations strategic direction.You will be a vital player in advocating positive cyber security hygiene change across the organisation and to assist you to succeed, you'll have capable team and access to a wide variety of tools in your arsenal including SIEM, vulnerability management, configuration drift detection, SIG/SEG, and many components of Microsoft's XDR platform.The ART is currently midway through a Digital and Cloud transformation program to uplift its aging legacy infrastructure to a cloud first model. As part of this, there is a multimillion dollar/year investment to build a new Case Management System secured by cutting edge security technology. You will be pivotal in designing and implementing the monitoring and cyber incident response strategy for the Case Management System (CMS) and supporting systems.This role will report to the Director of Technology Security, Risk and Assurance (TRSA) and will be expected to engage with a variety of internal stakeholders including APS staff, Members, internal technology teams and our managed/outsource service providers.You will be involved in both business as usual and project work.The TSRA team has eight team members, with three of those being Cyber Security Operations. The team predominantly work flexibly and are geographically dispersed across Australia. You'll be able to choose either working from office, hybrid, or remote working modes. The team adopts a scrum/scrumban approach to work delivery management.The team is built around a friendly, supportive, and collaborative environment which relentlessly pursues challenging the status quo. The Enterprise Technology Group values its employees and is focused on ensuring workload demand and mental health are forefront when managing work life balance.About you:To be successful in this role you will have strong logical reasoning skills which you'll leverage to influence tactical and strategic direction. To excel, you'll need a keen eye for detail to perform drill down analysis and determine risk-based conclusions on detections/alerts with ambiguous information.
