EL1 - Assistant Director, Cyber Security OperationsThe Administrative Review Tribunal (ART) is currently seeking applications for an Assistant Director – Cyber Security Operations to join the Enterprise Technology Group.
This position can be located in Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, Sydney or Perth.
Remuneration: The annual salary range for the position is EL1 - $113,357 - $133,423 p.a., plus a generous employer superannuation contribution of 15.4%.
This position is ongoing or non-ongoing for a period of 12 months with the possibility of extension.

As a dynamic leader, you will provide tailored leadership, mentoring, and upskilling for your team and broader ICT delivery teams.
You will drive and champion technology initiatives to improve both quality and coverage of monitoring, detection, and response capabilities.
You will be given a high degree of autonomy to shape the team, culture and steer the security operations strategic direction.
You will be a vital player in advocating positive cyber security hygiene change across the organisation and to assist you to succeed, you'll have capable team and access to a wide variety of tools in your arsenal including SIEM, vulnerability management, configuration drift detection, SIG/SEG, and many components of Microsoft's XDR platform.
The ART is currently midway through a Digital and Cloud transformation program to uplift its aging legacy infrastructure to a cloud-first model.
As part of this, there is a multimillion dollar/year investment to build a new Case Management System secured by cutting edge security technology.
You will be pivotal in designing and implementing the monitoring and cyber incident response strategy for the Case Management System (CMS) and supporting systems.
This role will report to the Director of Technology Security, Risk and Assurance (TRSA) and will be expected to engage with a variety of internal stakeholders including APS staff, Members, internal technology teams and our managed/outsource service providers.
You will be involved in both business as usual and project work.
The TSRA team has eight team members, with three of those being Cyber Security Operations.
The team predominantly work flexibly and are geographically dispersed across Australia.
You'll be able to choose either working from the office, hybrid, or remote working modes.
The team adopts a scrum/scrumban approach to work delivery management.

About you: To be successful in this role you will have strong logical reasoning skills which you'll leverage to influence tactical and strategic direction.
To excel, you'll need a keen eye for detail to perform drill down analysis and determine risk-based conclusions on detections/alerts with ambiguous information.
You'll be able to equally balance security risk with business operational risk within the context of the enterprise risk framework to deliver cost-effective security.
You will have a keen thirst for continuous learning which keeps you abreast of cutting edge technologies to mitigate sophisticated emerging threats as well as a persistent attitude which drives you to view problems from all perspectives and take ownership of issues.
You will possess leadership capability in managing security tools including EDR, NDR, SIEM and vulnerability management platforms, security operations centres, and security incident response and be adept at implementing advanced detection technologies and leveraging threat intelligence to drive decision-making.
Mandatory: Qualifications - Academic or Vocational certification in Technology and/or appropriate industry better practice standards and frameworks with specialisation in cyber security (e.g.
CISM, CISSP, CCSP, CISA, GIAC).Security Clearance - Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting 1 (NV1) clearance.Vocational certification in modern software development lifecycle methodologies such as Agile, Scrum, XP, SAF.Vocational certification in modern design and governance frameworks such as TOGAF, COBIT or SABSA.More information about this position, the scope of the role, duties and required capabilities and experience, is contained within the Position Description for this role, available from the careers page of our website.
