We are looking for creative, motivated, resilient problem solvers who can collaborate across DVA and externally. The successful applicant will have Human Centred Design/Design Thinking experience. The successful applicant will have experience facilitating workshops and a demonstrated ability safely work on sensitive topics, with potentially vulnerable populations, to generate actionable community insights. You will mainly be responsible for aspects of DVA's co-design capability, including the Women Veterans Policy Forum and the Veteran Families Policy Forum by leading the design and facilitation of both in-person and virtual co-design workshops with these communities. As Assistant Director – Co-Design and Facilitation Lead, you will lead the vision to build a public service which adopts design thinking, co-designs solutions, seeks a diverse range of perspectives, invests in genuine collaboration and encourages equal voice and healthy debate at all levels. The role will include supervisory responsibilities for some staff. Duties Use your expertise to initiate and drive co-design projects associated with the Women Veterans Policy Forum and the Veteran Families Policy Forum Facilitate in-person and virtual workshops on sensitive topics with potentially vulnerable populations Lead the recruitment of participants and promotion of the Forums externally Manage internal stakeholder enquiries and relationships to build the understanding and use of co-design in policy, program and product development across DVA Lead one-to-one interviews to explore experiences with clients of DVA and their families Promote, plan, and facilitate other collaboration events Shape and deliver communication products, briefs and reports Represent the team and the Department with appropriate autonomy at external engagements with members of the Australian veteran and veteran family communities. Eligibility Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS). All applicants external to DVA offered employment will be required to successfully undergo a pre-engagement screening check, even if they have a security clearance. The screening check is conducted in accordance with the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework requirements. A merit pool of suitable applicants may be created which may be used to fill future ongoing and non-ongoing vacancies should they become available over the next 18 months.
