We are seeking talented and enthusiastic policy professionals to fill Assistant Directors roles in the International and Content Sections. 
The Assistant Director International role will lead bilateral and multilateral engagement and initiatives, support cultural exchange and international collaborations, as well as policy research and drafting.

The Assistant Director, Content role will lead the implementation of an Australian content obligation for streaming services, including drafting of legislation and policy development work. 
What will you do?
As an Assistant Director, in accordance with the APS Values and Code of Conduct, you will be required to perform duties including but not limited to:
Draft high-quality strategic policy advice for the Senior Executive and Ministers; Establish strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders; Respond to priorities of various complexity in a rapidly changing environment; Other tasks as required including responding to correspondence; and
As Assistant Director International you will also draft bilateral agreements, engage with multilateral for a including UNESCO and G20, and overseeing a targeted funding program.

As Assistant Director Content you will also lead implementation of an Australian screen content obligation on streaming services and lead development of legislation and associated material.

You should be adept at building productive relationships with a variety of stakeholders and have the ability to drive, manage and coordinate a diverse work program. Taking responsibility for your achievements and those of your team, monitoring progress and follow through to deliver quality outcomes with a high attention to detail is essential. 

To be successful in these roles you will need to showcase and provide examples of the following skills and experience:
Good critical thinking and the ability to distil complex information, identify critical issues and formulate and convey appropriate policy responses; Demonstrated ability to achieve results under pressure and meet tight deadlines, with a demonstrated ability to prioritise effectively between competing demands in a busy work environment; Sound judgement, problem-solving skills and ability to use your own initiative; A high level of attention to detail and organisation skills; Excellent stakeholder management skills and ability to build rapport with a range of stakeholders; High quality written and oral communication skills, including the ability to tailor language to different audiences; and A positive approach to teamwork and collaboration, including a willingness to help out across a range of tasks during surge periods. The following skills and experience will also be highly regarded:
Knowledge and experience in policy and/or the arts; Demonstrated skills in policy development and implementation; Drafting of legislation;  Program management

Citizenship: To be eligible for employment with the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts applicants must be an Australian citizen.

Security Clearance: The successful candidate must be able to obtain and/or maintain a security clearance at Baseline Level. You must be willing to disclose all relevant and required information. You must have lived in Australia, or have a checkable background, for at least the preceding five years for Baseline Vetting clearances. More information on the security clearance vetting process is available on the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA) website .
