The key duties of the position include:The typical duties of these roles include: As Assistant Director, Engagement, you will:
• be a senior member of a team responsible for providing ONI insights to ministerial offices and key government stakeholders.
• manage ministerial tasking and product coordination.
• support the country's senior-most decision makers and work closely with ONI's leadership, ministerial offices and departmental customer teams to coordinate the tasking and distribution of ONI insights and product across government.
As an Assistant Director, Current Intelligence, you will:
• be a senior member of a team that works seamlessly together, and in close collaboration with analysts across ONI, to coordinate and produce ONI's flagship daily intelligence products.
This is a busy and varied role covering the current intelligence issues of highest priority to government.
As an Assistant Director, Tradecraft and Training, you will:
• be a senior member of either the National Intelligence Academy or ONI's internal analytical tradecraft team.
• support the development of the national intelligence profession and help foster a collegiate culture that values analytical rigour, integrity and contestability and work closely with analysts and other members of the Branch to support delivery of insight and the enhancement of our capabilities.
• Have extensive understanding of analysis who is interested in developing others and their own understanding of analytical tradecraft.
Training or facilitation experience is helpful but not required.
Our ideal candidate would have: • A sound understanding of Australia's strategic environment and national security decision-making processes
• A sound understanding of intelligence and analysis, including their roles in supporting decision-making
• Excellent written communication or editing skills, with good attention to detail
• Excellent negotiation and liaison skills, with the ability to work flexibly with colleagues, senior organisational leaders and external partners to ensure the prioritised delivery of activities and outcomes
• A demonstrated record of integrity, accountability and support for organisational diversity and inclusion
Desirable attributes:
• A demonstrated ability to enhance and improve capabilities through training, innovation or introducing reforms to existing processes
