Key Duties
Providing technical expertise to projects and business areas, and leading the technical deliverables.
Undertaking a range of activities in support of the management and operation of the Department's secure Internet gateway, secure systems, data centre, and network services.
Liaising with external and internal service providers as required.
Day to day monitoring and support of network and gateway systems including Data Centre technologies, SMTP email systems, SSL Gateways, Load Balancers, Proxy systems, Firewalls, and IPS.
Implementing major/minor project work to support Departmental initiatives.
Undertaking enhancement and remediation activities across network and gateway systems.
Requirements
Mandatory Requirements:
Minimum 3-5 years demonstrated experience as a Network & Security Gateway Engineer.
Ability to work within a structured IT governance framework and deliver results that adhere to relevant Commonwealth standards and policies.
High level of management skills including the ability to lead and plan to produce high standards of results, on budget and within tight timeframes.
Well-developed stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills, both written and verbal with the ability to negotiate outcomes as required.
Taking ownership of designs and transition plans while engaging with ICT operational teams to coordinate implementation activities, assisting in the resolution of technical issues as they arise.
Maintains a high level of professionalism, has sound judgement and decision-making skills.
Ability to work autonomously and is highly motivated.
Demonstrated analytical background and experience in Agile methodology.
Highly Desirable Criteria:
Demonstrated experience in implementing IT solutions for large, highly integrated government or similar scale private organisations.
Knowledge of Cloud/Security/Automation technologies.
A solid understanding of gateway and ICT security technologies.
