At LearnMeter, we are changing the way teachers, educators, researchers, parents and students understand and assess learning. We are applying the science of learning analytics to classrooms in new and exciting ways.
We are looking for an experienced educational data analyst, preferably with experience in learning and behavioural analytics, you will be the data champion of a world-leading project involving local and overseas schools, parents and students, collecting student laptop activities into cloud data warehouses and analysing the learning process.
The right candidate will welcome the opportunity to lead a small team of professionals to achieve our goals of improving computer learning in schools. You will be innovative and will ensure the right data is collected, is of high quality, is stored and maintained well, the right questions are asked of it, and data is visualised optimally.
You will work within a team of 5-6 highly young motivated professional web developers, back end and app developers and external educationalists.
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, your duties will include:
Leading a small team of developers.Database design – maintain and build on existing SQL database design.Perform data analytical tasks in relation to educational big data including telemetry, recorded activity data, recorded educational websites.Create educationally meaningful queries of data to address specific informational requests.Create user-friendly reports and real-time displays of learning Analytics for schools and parents.Develop protocols to ensure data accuracy.Develop data optimizing strategies.To be successful in this role, your skills will include:
Essential: Strong understanding of business rules within a database.Extensive experience in design and development of database structures.Extensive experience with SQL and stored procedures.Strong experience with at least one of the following: PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, Redshift.Experience with at least one of the following languages: C++, Java, QT, JavaScript, PHP or Python.Educated to a minimum of degree level in a highly analytical discipline such as Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science or Mathematics.Desirable: Experience with at least one of the statistical packages such as R, SPSS.Experience with machine learning / data mining techniques such as decision tree learning, clustering, artificial neural network or similar.We are looking for a person who:
