An exciting temporary full-time opportunity exists to join the Financial Advisory Services team as an A07 Principal Finance Business Partner. This role can be based in either the Cairns or Townsville Regional Office. This position is offered on a temporary full-time basis from 1 February 2025 to 30 June 2025, unless otherwise determined.

About the Role
As the Principal Finance Advisor, you will:
Provide specialist advice, capability building and intensive case management to schools and regions to enhance student learning outcomes and resolve priority issues.
Lead the development of high-level strategies, policies, procedures and systems to support the optimal utilisation of departmental funds and resources.
Responsibilities include:
Intensive financial case management, including strategy development and implementation with schools.
Answer challenging and high-level queries around policy and system areas that have been escalated beyond standard school support.
Proactively identify opportunities for improved service to schools by undertaking comprehensive data analysis.
Provide high quality strategic advice to schools around investment decisions.
Coach, support and work closely with Senior Finance Business Partners to ensure they are providing high quality services to their school clients.
Collaboratively work with the Statewide team of Principal Finance Business Partners to address identified priority issues and deliver improvement initiatives across the state.
Our ideal candidate should demonstrate:
Strong understanding of finance in a school environment is highly desirable, including interpretation of policy and procedures and answering complex financial system queries.
Proven ability to deliver timely and high-quality advice on challenging financial matters.
Experience in complex and detailed data analysis, including demonstrable system skills (Microsoft Excel, Power BI, OneNote etc).
Exceptional relationship building skills and ability to work with a diverse range of clients with varying levels of skills and experience.
Provision of face-to-face and MS Teams (region and statewide) group training and capability development with key clients, as well as one-to-one support.
