An exciting opportunity exists for the Manager - Youth Engagement to support the Engagement portfolio within the Southeast Region.
This role coordinates and leads youth engagement initiatives and strategies, providing leadership and direction in the planning and implementation of Early Childhood and State Schools Division priorities, aligned to the department's improvement agenda.
The role is based at the Department of Education's Hope Island Office.
This position is offered on a temporary full-time basis until 31 March 2025 unless otherwise determined.

About the role: As the Manager, Youth Engagement you will:
Provide project management to coordinate and lead youth engagement initiatives and strategies, providing leadership and direction in the planning and implementation of Early Childhood and State Schools Division priorities aligned to the department's improvement agenda.
Research, analyze, and assess data to develop creative, innovative strategies to support the varying needs of young people in achieving their outcomes as they transition through their educational pathway.
Responsibilities include:
Provide high-level strategic advice to senior officers of the department and other key stakeholders on issues relevant to the specific accountabilities of the role.
Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including working collaboratively within and across schools, settings, agencies, and organizations to implement collaborative strategies to ensure the effective implementation of Early Childhood and State Schools Division priorities for all students in state schools.
Contribute, as a member of the senior management team, to setting and coordinating strategic direction and activities ensuring the effectiveness of youth engagement within the department's priorities.
Coordinate and contribute to the strategic direction and activities as defined in priorities set by senior management.
Lead and manage other teams and projects to improve youth engagement and to achieve the department's strategic priorities.
Ensure the optimal use of human and financial resources to achieve agreed goals, oversee the management of State and Commonwealth funds where applicable, and manage reporting requirements.
Ensure effective communication, integration, coordination, and liaison occurs with key stakeholders and clients.
Prepare and review briefing material, correspondence, and reports for the Minister, senior departmental officers, government agencies, and other entities on relevant issues and initiatives.
Promote leadership and foster a challenging, equitable, ethical, and safe work environment for staff, which encourages commitment, skills development, professional growth, and continuous improvement.
