Coastal Lakes College is seeking to appoint a motivated and enthusiastic Special Needs Education Assistant to join our dynamic and supportive team.
As a Special Needs Education Assistant, you should have the ability to work independently and use initiative to assist the teacher in maintaining order and assisting in the delivery and implementation of planned education programs. Some of the skills and attributes desired to be successful include:
Experience dealing with complex behaviours Working with individuals or small groups of students Reporting student achievement and progress to the teacher Experience with trauma-informed practice and mental health A sound understanding of a range of disabilities The successful applicant will ideally have the skills and desire to work collaboratively with all staff in supporting our students to achieve success. Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills will be required to develop and promote the school's values, ethos, and priorities.
Minimum Requirements: Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment. Obtain a valid Working With Children Check before you start. Consent to a National Criminal History Check with the Department's Screening Unit.
