The Education and Engagement team, Department of Parliamentary Services is seeking passionate NSW civics educators and experts to join our new Education Advisory Group. The Education Advisory Group, under the direction of the group's chair, will provide advice and feedback to the Parliament of New South Wales on its civics education programs and resources, with the goal of helping to ensure the Parliament's offerings are of the best possible quality. Being a member of the Education Advisory Group is not a job and members will not be employed by the Parliament. However, sitting fees are offered for each meeting attended and travel allowances will be available for regional members attending in-person meetings. The advisory group will meet regularly throughout the year, both virtually and in person at the parliamentary precinct. Virtual meetings will be scheduled during the school term after 3.20pm. In-person meetings will be held at the Parliament of New South Wales, Sydney during the school holidays. All members will be asked to attend the first meeting at the Parliament of New South Wales in late January 2025. Who Should Apply? We are seeking applications from passionate NSW educators / education experts who can demonstrate some or all of the following: experience teaching civics and citizenship focused courses in a NSW school. experience developing and implementing relevant teaching and learning resources. knowledge of new and current NSW syllabuses and their civics and citizenship focused content. a passion for our democracy and a desire to contribute to its future in NSW.
