Location ProfileKaroo Primary School, established in 1992, is located in Rowville. In 2024 our enrolment is 430, with 20 classrooms and a number of specialist learning spaces. Our staffing structure includes full-time and part-time teaching staff, ES support and administration staff. Our 2024 staff consists of one Principal and two Assistant Principals (Teaching/ Learning and Wellbeing/Inclusion). We have three Learning Specialists; the focus of their work is Literacy, Numeracy and Wellbeing. Classroom programs are designed to support individual needs and are enriched by our specialist programs which include Physical Education, Visual Arts and Performing Arts, LOTE (Mandarin) and Science. Identified students participate in the High Ability Program, facilitated by a designated leader. Our students are also supported by professional and dedicated staff who encourage and provide opportunities for all students to achieve their personal excellence.

RoleAn education support class position at this range will perform tasks that are carried out in accordance with guidelines, accepted practice, and school policy under supervision and direction. This may include coordination of other education support class staff within the work area or educational program.
ResponsibilitiesProvides routine support for teachers including assisting with planning of student routines.Supports communication between teachers and parents.Communicates with teachers on routine matters related to students and/or other responsibilities.Provides basic physical care and wellbeing support for students such as toileting, meals, and lifting.Addresses immediate behavioural presentations relating to specific students within a classroom setting aligned to school policy and procedure.Provides basic support and supervision for individuals or groups of up to 4 students within a classroom setting.Supports teachers in the coordination of educational programs independently or under minimal supervision.Provides medical intervention support to a student/s, under specific conditions, with appropriate training and guidance.Provides specialised communication support for students and teachers in areas such as AUSLAN and braille.Who May ApplyIndividuals with the aptitude, experience and/or qualifications to fulfill the specific requirements of the position.
