Details of the offer

Location Profile Gowrie St Primary School is located in Northern Shepparton, just 200 metres from the Goulburn River. Our 2024 enrolment is 200 students, representing a diverse range of communities. This includes approximately 35% Indigenous students and 14% EAL students. Gowrie St Primary School¿s vision is to be a community that takes strength from who we are: our diversity, our cultures and our histories. We will empower our students to seize life¿s opportunities and overcome its challenges. Working alongside our community is a core part of this and is reflected in many of our programs: our Wellbeing team, our therapeutic play program, our Paediatric clinic and our engagement programs, which include our Hands-On Learning. We aim to develop creative, curious and active young people who have a love of learning, and who a strong sense of how they can make a positive impact on their communities and the world. We encourage our students to express themselves through the arts by embedding arts learning across our curriculum. Gowrie St Primary Schools values are also very important to us and are part of our School-Wide Positive Behaviours Supports (SWPBS). Our values are Excellence, Determination, Empathy and Pride. We take a restorative approach to supporting students through challenging behaviour in order to build a culture based on strong, positive relationships. We have a strong focus on a literacy and numeracy and developing a positive mindset to learning through goal setting and reflection. We aim to empower our students¿ sense of agency and to take an active role in their learning journey. We run readers and writers workshop models as well as literacy `intensives' (small group targeted learning) across the school. Our numeracy learning model incorporates explicit instruction, as well as building mathematic fluency. Additionally, we round out our numeracy with challenging tasks using the Launch, Explore, Discuss framework. Some other special and important features of our school include our LOTE program, we are one of a few schools in the state to teach a local Indigenous language ( Yorta Yorta ) as our LOTE subject to all of our students. A further special part of our school is our on-site Kinder and After School Care service. Our teacher teams collaboratively plan which is a wonderful support to new teachers and provides in time professional learning in our pedagogical approaches. Through `Teaching Sprints¿ our teachers build their knowledge of evidence-based strategies to improve outcomes for our students whilst strengthening their capacity- an approach that our teachers site as one of the many positives of working at Gowrie St. Professional learning is link closely with our AIP and is always in line with the goals we collaboratively set for improvement and our school improvement team allows for every teacher to spend a term as a member. Our teacher teams are enhanced by our team of dedicated education support staff, who provide support in every class and across other parts of our school. The team at Gowrie St work hard to support each other and embrace the opportunity to welcome new members to our community Please contact the Principal Eron Chapman eron.chapmaneducation.vic.gov.au for more information.
