Frontier Economics are the independent economic consultants for complex commercial, litigation, regulatory and public policy decision-making. Our results for clients are well regarded because they are underpinned by our economists' 30+ years of sector expertise, technical experience, and robust economic modelling and analysis.
We regularly are looking for economists with a range of experience to join our team in Melbourne, Sydney and Singapore. In particular, we are seeking regulatory, quantitative and natural resource economists. If you are an economist who is keen to work with us, we welcome applications via this application form.  Frontier Economics provides micro-economic consulting services to public and private sector clients across a range of industries and sectors, including energy, climate change, telecoms, transport, water, natural resources and financial services.
Making an impact for our clients means understanding their circumstances and critical issues – whether this is the commercial reality of their business, the forces driving customer behaviour, the implications of regulatory decisions, or even the political context. In all cases, we base our advice on sound economic frameworks and pride ourselves on our empirical work, generating results that can withstand even the closest scrutiny. The methods and models we use are often complex, but our advice is always succinct, clear, honest and reliable.

Position summary:Our economic consultants work on a range of microeconomics projects undertaken on behalf of clients. Having intellectual curiosity, and an interest in solving the economic problems our clients face is important. Good time management is critical to being a consultant, as is enjoying diverse issues to work on, and a changing environment of clients.
You will be required to research, collect data and use economics to develop appropriate frameworks to solve business and public policy problems. As part of your work, you develop quantitative economic models that help you analyse problems. You will learn and become proficient in using existing economic models, tools and software developed or used by Frontier Economics for your project work.
You will report in writing on the results and conclusions of your work. At times, you will present these results and conclusions to colleagues, clients and the public. It is likely you will be working on projects concurrently.
As Frontier Economics, our project teams are put together for each specific client engagement. Economists can work across a variety of practice areas and with different colleagues. Frontier Economics has a flat structure, so economists will at times lead teams as project manager. All economists are required to actively engage in developing clients and winning new work.
The ideal candidate will have:honours or Master's level degree qualifications in economics or econometricsability to write and present complex economic ideas to a variety of different audiencesability to work independently and as part of a teamstrong organisational skills, including managing multiple tasks, items or projects and ability to prioritise workload and deliverablesclear written and oral communications skills, including preparation of reports, presentations and proposalsexperience in working effectively and positively with clients or relevant stakeholders.The following credentials will be viewed favourably:
An understanding of, and experience in, one of the key industry sectors that Frontier Economics works in, such as natural resources, energy, transport, infrastructure or water, particularly in Australia, New Zealand and/or South East Asia.Proficiency in, or aptitude for, computer coding and modelling skills, particularly Excel. R and/or Python are also desirable.Locations: Melbourne, Sydney and Singapore
