FTI Consulting is looking for an experienced Economic Advisor/Modeller (internal title is Director) to join our Economics & Financial Consulting team. You will be an integral part of this fast-growing practice working in Brisbane but engaging with others across the firm in Australia and internationally.Directors in the Economic and Financial Consulting practice are responsible for planning, supervising, performing and finalizing economic research reports for clients and presenting the results. This involves managing internal resources (economists and financial analysts) as well as liaising directly with clients.Directors are on the journey towards building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and joining with the whole FTI team to add to our reputation as independent experts and building our business.You will work with senior members of the team who will support and guide you. Your professional development will be enhanced through internal and external training, on-the-job coaching and mentoring.What You'll DoPrepare and deliver economic reports and analysis through independent research and teamwork.Develop financial models that underpin business case development.Manage and oversee research projects to ensure that client needs are met within specified timelines and budget.Attend client meetings and present results.Prepare project budgets and research proposals for prospective clients.Cultivate strong relationships with prospective and existing clients.Maintain up-to-date client and internal resource records via FTI's financial systems.Stay up to date with developments in Australia's policy and business environment.Guide junior project team members to contribute towards completion of project work and to develop their core strengths.Assist with new business development activities.Contribute to company initiatives and team development activities.How You'll GrowWork in small cohesive project teams which will enable you to get more closely involved with pitches and often have direct access to our key decision makers, both internal and external.Obtain support from experienced senior members of the team to discuss current projects, brainstorm ideas to solve complex problems and provide general advice around our systems and processes.Develop your skills and progressively take on more responsibility for the management and completion of projects and guidance of the project team.Gather experience at the frontlines of economic analysis and the policy debate.Build strong and enduring relationships with our clients as you become their trusted advisor and holder of independent expert.Draw upon regular technical training sessions to enhance your professional development including via our e-learning facilities.Interact with key stakeholders in the national and international economy.Collaborate across segments and across the national and international network of experts within the company.Qualifications & ExperienceBachelor's Degree in Economics or related disciplines. Post graduate qualifications in economics or a related discipline would be highly regarded.4-6 years Professional work experience in a consulting or research environment.Knowledge of Australia's economic policy environment.Experience in applied economics, analysis of industries and markets or policy research.Strong financial modelling/financial analysis background.Ability to manage projects from conceptualization to delivering the final report.Ability to guide small project teams and pull different inputs into a coherent story.An understanding of the bid process and associated standards whilst coordinating bid resources on completed projects.Excellent analytic and quantitative skills and attention to detail.Ability to handle and analyse large, complex datasets.High level of proficiency in using Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.Experience in using statistical packages such as Stata, R and E-Views will be advantageous.Strong work ethic and integrity and high level of professionalism.Apart from the well-structured career path and excellent team environment, our employees enjoy a variety of perks and benefits.
