Biodiversity Australia is seeking motivated professionals to join our growing Ecology Unit.
We are an Indigenous owned, leading Australian Environmental Management Consulting Business focused on building sustainable partners, economic management, and ecological balance.
Our head office is located on the Gold Coast with regional offices in Chinchilla, Port Macquarie, North Queensland and the Northern Territory – with many of our consultants working from home.
We have opportunities available for an experienced Ecologist (min 3 years experience) to join our Ecology Team in Townsville.

Your new role You will conduct field ecology activities and be the knowledge expert in field ecology related activities throughout Central and North Queensland.Opportunities may arise for you to work across the greater Queensland region and Australia where your skills are required, and depending on your achievement of expectations, your role with Biodiversity Australia could have significant long term career growth.Opportunity to work with field Ecologists and Fauna field team members and use your expert knowledge to support the national Ecology teamContribute to Ecological projects from initial scope and client liaison, field flora and fauna surveys through to commercial deliveryPreparation of research, analysis, field surveys, impact assessments, approvals and technical reportsMaintain an understanding of commonwealth, state and local government environmental regulations and their application as well as relevant industry standards, practices, and approvals processesMaintain professional relationships with clients from across the resources and infrastructure, government and defence, residential and aviation sectorsTo be successful you will have Tertiary qualification in Ecology, Zoology, and/or Natural Resource Management or equivalentMinimum 3 years postgraduate experience undertaking ecology surveys (preferably in central Queensland)Regional Ecosystem & Bio Condition assessment accreditation and or significant experienceHigh level of field survey skills and experience including Regional Ecosystem, Threatened Ecological Community, and flora identificationDemonstrated experience in preparing, submitting, and managing specialist biological assessment reportsWorking knowledge of consulting practice and project management skillsMust be physically fit and able to undertake regular field workYou must have the ability and willingness to undertake field work when required Current drivers licence, White Card and First Aid CertificateExceptional Salary PackagingWork from home start up packages provided including laptop and high-quality equipmentOpportunity to purchase annual leaveStudy assistanceCareer progression + Professional Development allowance optionsNational support from a team of over 30+ ecologistsAdministrative team providing high level support on all projectsWorking for an ISO accredited companyExperience on sites with a high safety standard and encompass a great safety cultureYou can learn more about Biodiversity Australia at www.biodiversityaust.com.au
