Whilst initially a year-long contract, there is considerable potential for this to be extended.ABOUT USSituated on the sub-tropical Mid-North Coast, on the edge of beautiful bush land in the beachside city of Coffs Harbour, Casuarina Steiner School offers a unique education for girls and boys aged from 12 months to 12 years.ABOUT THE POSITIONThe position is for a class teacher for our younger (4 – 5 year old) children in our Early Childhood (Peach Blossom) setting. This program is the forerunner to our full-time Kindy class and offers a gradual and gentle transition into school life. Peach Blossom children attend the school part-time three days per week.Peach Blossom is the foundational year of our school curriculum and grounded in Steiner Education principles, particularly the understanding of child development where the young child is engrossed in learning through imitation. Our Peach Blossom environment supports this by ensuring that our teachers and assistants are worthy of imitation.The class teacher's primary responsibility is to deliver an early years Steiner program outlined by the school. In doing this, the class teacher is expected to join and work in cooperation with fellow teachers, the College of Teachers, and the school's policies and procedures. The teacher aims to be a figure of moral authority based on commitment, care for the children, and a willingness to develop a close professional relationship with their peers.THE ROLEPeach Blossom Teacher; three and a half days a week (0.7FTE) beginning immediately for the remainder of the year.QUALIFICATIONSAn appropriate qualification in early childhood or primary teaching.Current NESA registration.Current Working with Children Check.Qualifications or training in Steiner education or a willingness to learn.ACCOUNTABILITYThe position is accountable to the Head of School. All class teachers become members of the College of Teachers and work with the College to ensure coherency and continuity in curriculum and impulse.SELECTION CRITERIAWe are looking for a dedicated and passionate educator who embodies the following qualities and skills:Commitment to Steiner Education: A deep understanding of the principles of Rudolf Steiner Education, with a demonstrated love for children and teaching.Child Development Expertise: An understanding of child development described by Rudolf Steiner and a commitment to professional learning and inner development through anthroposophical studies and artistic activities.Teaching Excellence: Experience teaching in an early childhood educational setting, preferably within a Steiner framework, with the ability to plan, deliver, and assess developmentally appropriate curricula.
