The work of this unit is in the delivery of learning and information services to library customers. Learning programs offered include early literacy programs to preschool children, programs for school-aged children and young adults, school holiday programs. For adults, there are programs to connect readers with the library collection, local history programs, general lifestyle programs, and programs for customers with special needs, including the CALD community. Specialist information services are provided through the local history team, and the corporate research service, as well as general information services to meet the identified needs of the community.
The Early Childhood Project Officers are responsible for planning and delivering library services for children 0-5 years and their caregivers in branches and as outreach as part of the funded First 5 Forever early childhood literacy program. The programs are delivered by library staff and in partnership with external facilitators. The Early Childhood Project Officer works closely with the Coordinator Learning and Information Services, the Children and Youth Services Librarian, Senior Early Childhood Project Officer, Early Childhood Project Officers and Learning and Information Services Officers.
The Hours for the The Early Childhood Project Officer role are 18 hours per week: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 8.00am-2.30pm.
About You Our ideal applicant will have high level skills and focus on understanding a wide range of customer needs and offering services that enhance the customer's experience particularly in the area of early literacy with excellent skills in oral communication to a variety of audiences where information is well articulated and easily understood by all, particularly early childhood, parents and caregivers.
