Kangaroo Valley Preschool Inc. (KV Preschool) is a not-for-profit, 20 place preschool located on the traditional land of the Wodi Wodi People. Operating during school terms with opening hours between 9:00am and 3:15pm, KV Preschool is managed by the Early Childhood Director (Nominated Supervisor) and a volunteer parent and community management committee (Approved Provider).Its small size, however, belies the importance in this community. It is the only child care service in operation within Kangaroo Valley. We strive to create and maintain meaningful and responsive relationships between educators, children, families, and the wider community.Autonomous full time position-M-F 8:30am-4:00pmCommunity-based preschool with strong community connectionsFinancial benefits including attractive remunerationA collaborative and inclusive workplace culture, leading a team of highly experienced educatorsThe RoleCommencing in Term 1, 2025, KV Preschool is looking for a full time (M-F, 8:30am -4:00pm, 37.5hrs per week- classroom and admin time), permanent teaching director with a recognised early childhood teaching degree. As the director and nominated supervisor, the successful applicant would oversee the operations of the service, lead, guide, and support a long-established team who provide high quality early childhood education and care to children. The successful applicant will be responsible and accountable for the overall operations of the service including management, administration, and staffing, while responsible to the management committee.Position Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Ensure the day-to-day operations runs within the centre's policies and procedures as well as compliance with licensing, legislation and regulatory requirements whilst maintaining high-quality care in consideration of the National Quality Standards.Lead the planning and implementation of an inclusive educational program based on the latest research to promote children's development whilst fostering a love for learning and creativity among children through engaging learning experiences.Establish a safe and healthy environment, developing appropriate practices and procedures for the care and welfare of children and educators, and ensuring the security and maintenance of equipment and premises.Manage and supervise staff, maintain required child to staff ratios, organise duties for all staff, overseeing the delivery of the educational program, providing leadership, professional support, staff appraisal and fostering professional development.Establish effective records management processes and ensure children's records such as enrolments, emergency contacts, medical and developmental progress, are kept up to date.Provide first aid treatment, administering medication, when requested by parents, and ensure all relevant documentation is completed and recorded.Liaise and consult with parents to develop positive and open professional relationships with families, children and staff. Encourage parents to contribute to the educational program and participate in Centre activities.Maintain & develop positive relationships and effective communication with the Kangaroo Valley Preschool Committee and facilitate and/or attend Centre related meetings including parent and committee management meetings to inform and support Centre operations and services delivery.Represent the centre in the local community, establishing partnerships and promoting the centre's values.Work closely with the office administrator to keep informed of the centre's budget and expenditure within the budget framework.Adhoc duties as required.Selection CriteriaQualifications:• Recognised early childhood qualifications approved by ACECQA (teacher accreditation through NESA)• A willingness to be appointed as a Nominated Supervisor• Current WWCC, current ECED approved child protection qualifications, NSW criminal history check (or willingness to obtain), current ACECQA approved first aid and CPR certificate, asthma and anaphylaxis training.Experience:• Proven leadership experience as a director in a childcare setting (minimum 2 years experience)• Sound knowledge of the Education and Care Services National Law (2010) and the Education and Care Services National Regulations (2011).• Ability to lead, mentor, and support a team of educators to implement and deliver a high-quality program in accordance with service philosophy, EYLF, and NQF.• Significant experience in a management position in early childhood settings.• Thorough knowledge of early childhood and care administrative functions.• Knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety.• Experience in not-for-profit setting is highly desirable.Capabilities:• Highly developed communication, interpersonal and team development skills.• Ability to lead the team in pedagogical matters including curriculum planning and professional development.• Ability to develop, implement and evaluate policies and procedures.• Computer literacy.• Sound financial management and budgeting skills.• Two current workplace references.How to ApplyApplications must not exceed two A4 pages addressing the Selection Criteria as well as a brief resume and two professional referees.
