Full-time permanent position based at the Camberwell Civic Centre
$107,962 - $120,556 (excluding Super) plus monthly RDO

A key opportunity exists to help us enhance one of our most cherished services and make a lasting impact on behalf of our children and young people. We are seeking someone to coordinate, mentor, and advance both internal and external teams, from the Kew Traffic School to the supporting volunteer committees of management.

A little bit about the role
The Early and Middle Years Coordinator is the lynchpin within the coordination and leadership of Council's early and middle years programs and associated activities. Reporting to the Senior Coordinator Children Young People & Families, you will be responsible for:

Overseeing kindergarten central registration, ensuring equitable allocation of children to state-funded kindergarten programs.
Supervising the programs delivered from Kew Traffic School, ensuring the facility provides high quality education that is benchmarked and meets current best practice.
Proactively engaging with a range of stakeholders to identify opportunities for building the capacity of kindergarten and toy library volunteer committees of management.
Contributing to early years infrastructure planning across the municipality, informed through up-to-date analysis of local demand and trends.
Managing lease, license and service level agreements for Council owned early childhood education and care facilities.
Leading from the front and mentoring a diverse team promoting customer service and fostering an environment of collaboration and continuous improvement.

A drive for improvement with a passion for providing best in class services to our community will very much set you apart for this role. With a constant view of keeping the customer at the centre of everything we do, you will have:

A demonstrated ability to manage a multidisciplinary team delivering a variety of programs and providing a shared strategic direction.
An extensive knowledge of leading-edge practice, management and operations in early years services and programs, including licensing responsibilities and policy development on a state-wide basis.
A proven record in planning, implementing and evaluating community projects.
A sound knowledge of Government policy directions, legislative requirements and best practice relating to early years programs, services and initiatives.
Broad communication skills, including written and oral presenting of reports and submissions for a range of audiences.

Employment Requirements

Tertiary qualifications in early childhood, community development, social sciences or equivalent.
Applicants must have the right to work in Australia.
Preferred applicants will be required to undergo a National Police Record Check and hold a valid Working with Children Clearance.
A current Drivers Licence valid in the State of Victoria.
