The Future Generation Joint Venture brings together the combined engineering experience and expertise of WeBuild, Clough and Lane and has been selected to design construct Snowy 2.0. This project is based within the Snowy Mountains in NSW and will deliver one of the largest pumped hydro schemes in the world.
Snowy 2.0 is the next chapter in the Snowy Scheme's history. It is the largest committed renewable energy project in Australia and will provide on-demand energy and large-scale storage for many generations to come. This Iconic Project has and will continue to create its own legacy in Australian history.
Purpose of the Role: Functions as a technical specialist or supervisory role. Independently develops and applies advanced engineering techniques, concepts and approaches to unique engineering problems.
Qualifications:
Tertiary Qualifications such as a Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field
White Card Experience
Experience working on large scale construction projects or other suitable projects
Minimum 8 years of experience in Power Plant Business is desirable
Experience and knowledge of High Voltage Distribution networks
Experience in Microsoft Office suite
Required Competencies:
A solid knowledge of Australian Electrical Standards
Solid technical writing and communication skills
Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
Strong verbal and communication skills and the ability to write clear and concise English
Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize around deadlines
Skilled in oral and written communication, with a demonstrated ability to present planning and scheduling information to management and clients
Demonstrated skill in identifying, analysing, and solving problems
Knowledge of engineering and construction management customarily acquired over time through specialized instruction or practical experience
Demonstrated flexibility to respond to urgent project requests and/or changing priorities
Core Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
Responsible for design delivery of all electrical works in line with design programme including approval from Employer
Responsible for ensuring compliance of all electrical works design submissions with Employer's Requirements
Responsible for Coordination of Electromechanical design works such as Generators, Static Frequency Converters, Unit Excitation Systems, Main Transformers, AC Excitation Transformers, EHV Cables, Gas Insulated Switchgears, Diesel Generators, Scada System and Electrical auxiliary systems
Responsible for the Coordination of Electrical Balance of Plants such as Lighting and Small Power, Earthing and Lightning Protection, Integrated Security System, Communication System and MV Outlying Works which are under responsibility of Main Contractor
Responsible for Coordination of Electrical Balance of Plants such as MV and LV Distribution System, DC System, Control and Instrumentation System and Water Level and Flow Measuring System which are under responsibility of EM Subcontractor
Responsible for Coordination of interfaces between Civil and EM works
Responsible for Follow up of EM subcontractors Electrical Design Progress
Focal point with the EM subcontractors and Designers for electrical matters
Responsible for Creation and management of electrical design and drawings archive in design department
Responsible for Supporting Designers for EM design information to be included in civil design drawings (blockouts, foundation drawings, embedded parts)
Coordination with design consultant on a day to day basis, to provide timely construction inputs to the design & ensure timely delivery of the design packages in line with design programme
Review all the submissions of electrical design works from design consultant to ensure, all agreed assumptions & strategies are properly incorporated in to the design and provide comments in case of any deviations
Value Engineering & optimization is key to successful design. Hence, ensure the submission is value engineered and optimized, to ensure the design submittal is well within the tender design quantities
Follow-up with design consultant and ensure timely submission to Employer in line with design programme
Engage with Employer and arrange workshops between design consultant & employer, to explain the design submittal towards expedition of faster approval for the design
In case of any comments received from Employer on the design submittal, review all the comments properly and prepare the responses with the help of the design consultant, if required. Ensure timely submission of responses within the allowed response period to Employer and arrange a comments resolution meeting between Employer & Design Consultant
Prepare project design review comment sheets on the design submittals in line with design programme
Engage with Construction team to seek input on agreed methodology and sequence for each specific project element & provide timely clarification on design related queries to construction team whenever requested
Coordination with procurement team to provide information on design towards preparation of procurement packages
Coordination with Technical Office Manager on electrical works to provide information on design
