About the role The Construction Supervisor is accountable for the HSE, cost, schedule and quality of project construction.
This includes inspection, conformance and compliance testing, and handover to operations for assets installed by the construction program.
The Construction Supervisor develops construction documentation, coordinates the construction effort for project works (Capital or Maintenance), supervises contractors and vendors involved in project construction, and seeks to ensure that projects are completed safely, meeting project quality, schedule and budget requirements.
Responsibilities Ensures contractor engagement and supervision adhere to established Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies and procedures.
Acts as the Responsible Person (ARP) under the organization's safety policies and procedures.
Participates in hazard identification and risk assessment processes.
Confirms contractors have all required permits approved under the Authority to Mobilize (ATM) and Authority to Proceed (ATP) protocols before commencing work.
Reports and escalates all EHS incidents and actively participates in related investigations and follow-up actions.
Ensures contractors deliver the agreed scope of work as per the contract, escalating issues to Procurement and the Project Team Leader (PTL) for resolution of contractual matters.
Coordinates construction interfaces between contractors and operations.
Leads weekly construction meetings, preparing detailed minutes covering KPIs such as EHS performance, schedule, budget, forecasts, quality, change management, and risks/opportunities.
Reviews and signs off Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), and monitors, audits, and reports on contractors' Quality Management Plans to ensure quality standards are met.
Verifies onsite progress for PTL approval and ensures that any additional work or variations are formally documented and authorized through appropriate procedures, involving consultation with the Project Team Leader, Procurement Officer, and Cost Controller.
Maintains registers for Extra Work Tickets (EWT) and Site Instructions (SI) related to the contract.
Reviews and approves contractors' daily timesheets and ensures alignment between claims, invoices, and approved timesheets.
Manages and resolves Technical Queries (TQs) related to construction by consulting with the PTL and maintaining a TQ register.
Consults the PTL regarding onsite changes and collaborates with Operations and the Area of Responsibility (AOR) to coordinate shutdowns and tie-ins.
Oversees pre-commissioning activities as outlined in the commissioning plan.
Develops punch lists and ensures the completion of all punch list items for project closeout.
Serves as a member of the Project Team, accountable for the safe delivery of construction packages in alignment with the Scope of Work (SoW), design, specifications, schedule, and budget.
Engages in key project activities such as solution analysis, scope definition, planning, design, procurement, and constructability reviews.
Experience/Requirements Greater than 3 years in similar field or position Greater than 5 years related industry experience Experience within Aluminium or Heavy Industry (preferred) Applicable Trade Certificate or Technical Training Electrical Licence
