Your Next Big Adventure Awaits The Shire of East Pilbara is on the hunt for two full-time or contractual Duty Manager/Aquatic Officers to join the team.
In this role, you'll take the reins at the Newman Aquatic Centre and the brand-new swimming pool in Nullagine , with occasional support at the Marble Bar Swimming Pool.
Reporting to the Team Leader Aquatic Services , you'll lead a team, manage facility maintenance, ensure safety standards are met, and bring fresh energy to community programs and services.
With a rotating fortnightly roster , this role also includes travel to regional sites, keeping every day dynamic and exciting.

Key responsibilities include: Leading lifeguards and swim teachers to deliver outstanding customer service Monitoring pool water chemistry and plant room operations to meet health regulations Performing emergency response tasks, including first aid and crowd control Assisting in the planning and promotion of community programs and events Coordinating maintenance and liaising with teams to ensure top facility standards Preparing reports on centre utilisation, including pool and membership statistics Adhering to safety standards, regulations, and policies This position offers a 40-hour workweek, which includes 38 standard hours plus 2 hours of Rostered Day Off (RDO).
Additionally, 7 hours of overtime are factored into the role, resulting in a structured 45-hour week.
The inclusive salary package ensures consistency and fairness, with employees receiving the same pay regardless of whether overtime is required.
While occasional overtime may be needed, it is not a regular expectation.
What Makes You a Swim-Sational Fit?
To qualify for this role, you will need at least 2 years of experience in aquatic facility operations or a related field, along with the following licenses and certifications: Current Pool Lifeguard Award Current First Aid Certificate (or higher) Current Pool Plant Operators Certificate (WA Accredited) Current Working with Children Certificate LIWA Accreditation or willingness to obtain Current 'WA' C-Class Driver's Licence If you hold equivalent licenses or certifications from another state, we encourage you to apply, provided you are eligible and willing to obtain the WA equivalents.
Additionally, you must demonstrate the following skills and experience: Recent experience working in an aquatic facility Working knowledge of WHS legislation Well-developed organisational, communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills Developed keyboard and computer skills Ability to apply legislation and standards relevant to leisure and aquatic facilities and programs Proven self-management, time management, and organisational skills Flexibility with rotating rosters Please note: Candidates will need to successfully complete a pre-employment health assessment and provide a valid police clearance before commencing employment .
