This role demands a dedicated, professional leader who can bring a high level of organisation and focus to a dynamic, fast-paced environment. You'll lead a talented team and uphold The Duke's standards for quality, consistency, and foster genuine guest engagement.With a commitment to excellence, you'll ensure that every guest interaction and every drink served aligns with our values, enhancing The Duke's reputation as a top-tier live music venue and a vibrant community gathering space.Responsibilities:Live Music and Community EngagementCreate an engaging atmosphere that celebrates live music, collaborating closely with the venue manager to support artists and enhance the guest experience during performances.Cultivate relationships with local patrons, musicians, and community members, establishing The Duke as a neighborhood hub and go-to live music spot.Support event nights with adaptable staff scheduling, ensuring a team prepared for high energy and diverse audiences.Assist in creating drink specials and event-specific menus that resonate with the audience and reflect The Duke's unique vibe.Drink Quality and ConsistencyOversee cocktail preparation, beer service, and batching to ensure every drink aligns with recipe standards and is consistently high quality.Assist in creative drink development, crafting classic cocktails with a twist and introducing weekly specials that highlight both traditional and unconventional ingredients.Train bar staff in proper techniques for signature drinks and pub classics, ensuring consistency in every pour.Bar and Cellar OrganisationMaintain an organised, well-stocked bar and cellar, keeping all items clearly labeled and rotated for efficiency.Develop and enforce cleaning schedules, ensuring every surface meets health and safety standards and the bar maintains its inviting dive-bar aesthetic.Conduct regular checks on cellar equipment, ensuring safe storage practices and compliance with health regulations.Ensure your team and surrounding managers are trained and aware on how to manage incidents around CO2 alarms.Ensure stock is not blocking the fire exits of the venues and keep the areas and surrounds compliant.Safety, Compliance, and RSA StandardsMaintain RSA standards through on-the-job training and routine audits, reinforcing The Duke's safety-first, community-oriented approach.Educate staff on RSA policies, emphasizing responsible service and creating a safe environment that balances lively events with compliance.Ensure all team members hold up-to-date RSA certifications and that qualifications are regularly verified on Tanda.Staff Development and Team CultureLead by example, mentoring your team on customer service, bar skills, and The Duke's values to foster a cohesive, supportive environment.Encourage open communication with staff, providing feedback and holding regular one-on-one sessions to support their growth and improve retention.Cultivate a fun, inclusive atmosphere that reflects The Duke's dive-bar culture, encouraging team members to bring energy and personality to every shift.Customer Experience and CollaborationWork closely with front-of-house teams to create a smooth, cohesive guest experience from the bar to the stage, adapting to the ebb and flow of live music nights.Respond swiftly to service challenges, equipment issues, and customer feedback, maintaining high standards even during the busiest events.Collaborate with HQ on recurring challenges, contributing insights that improve efficiency and guest satisfaction across the group.Maintenance and UpkeepOversee bar maintenance, tracking repairs, and coordinating with approved vendors to keep equipment running optimally.Conduct daily and weekly inspections of bar equipment, initiating repairs and replacement requests as needed.Ensure the bar area remains clean and organized, arranging deep cleans for high-contact areas to maintain The Duke's inviting, slightly gritty appeal.
