If that is you, then bring your drive, innovation, and expertise to work every day to play a critical role in advocating for justice and equity in our workplace and for those served by DSHS.The Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) and the Office of Justice and Civil Rights (OJCR) are looking for a Civil Rights Investigator.You'll be responsible for leading and managing complex civil rights employee investigations based on DSHS Administrative Policy 18.66, 20.01 and other policies as applicable and provides professional specialized expert-level investigations based on allegations received by the OJCR. You'll also oversee investigations of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation complaints to ensure DSHS programs and activities are free from unlawful discrimination/retaliation, to avoid potential lawsuits against the agency.The majority of this work will be performed remotely and can be done from outside the State of Washington (within the USA). However, some work may require an in-person element and occasional infrequent travel may be required. With management pre-approval, associated travel costs within policy guidelines will be paid and/or reimbursed by the program.Some of What You'll DoConduct complex, sensitive and/or high-profile civil rights personnel investigations which impacts agency litigation riskCollect and objectively analyze evidence as it relates to department policies and proceduresConsult with and conduct debrief meetings with Appointing Authorities, Risk Management Representatives, Human Resources to include providing information and gathering subject matter expert information surrounding casesApply expert knowledge of civil rights laws and strategies to compile and review evidence and produce clear, concise, complete and responsive EEOC Position StatementsRespond to inquiries regarding civil rights laws and their application.Who we Want As Our Newest TeammateKnowledgeBachelor's degree in business administration, public administration or related field AND Minimum three years of experience with employment civil rights laws. Minimum five years' experience in conducting employment related investigations.OR Juris Doctor from an accredited law school, or Masters degree in business administration, public administration, or related field AND Minimum two years of experience with employment civil rights laws.
