About Us The Magistrates' Court of Victoria (MCV) is a jurisdiction within the Court Services Victoria statutory authority and has a long history of providing justice for the people of Victoria in metropolitan and regional courts across the state.
The Court determines in excess of 300,000 cases per annum at 51 venues, equating to approximately 90 per cent of all cases that come before Victorian courts each year.
The Court aims to be an innovative, accessible and responsive court that provides quality services to the Victorian community.

The Drug Court is a statutory division of the Magistrates' Court of Victoria and part of MCV Specialist Courts and Programs.
The division provides an alternative sentencing option to offenders with drug and/or alcohol dependency who have committed offence/s whilst under the influence of drugs or alcohol and/or to support their dependency.

About the Role The Drug Court of Victoria is seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and highly organised Clinical Advisor (CA) to join the Multi Disciplinary team.
The Drug Court CA is responsible for providing a range of clinical advice, treatment and referral services for the Drug Court and its participants, in line with the principles and practices of the model.

It is the role of the Drug Court CA to:

Assess potential participants referred to the Drug Court and develop treatment plans to address substance use and associated issues. Develop individual treatment plans for participants on a Drug Treatment Order to address their substance use, psychosocial history and participate in case conferences. Provide expert advice to the Court in relation to the offender's psychosocial history, substance use and suitability for inclusion in and ongoing participation in the program. Provide assessment and progress reports for the Drug Court Magistrate. Develop, manage and maintain key relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including Court Services Victoria, court staff, judiciary, community organisations, drug treatment agencies, peer agencies, and other Victorian Government Departments and Non-Government Organisations. Contribute to the development and progress of the Drug Court program including the development and continuous improvement of clinical policies, procedures and assessment tools. The Drug Court CA is a vital member of a multi-disciplinary team.

About You The incumbent will have exceptional communication and organisational skills to build and sustain effective relationships with participants and stakeholders in order to respectfully address their inquiries and needs.
You will have demonstrated experience working with Alcohol and Other Drugs (AoD) and mental health clients and a sound application of treatment pathways.

You will be computer literate and able to effectively use relevant computer systems and be a fast learner.
You will be clinically competent and confident in providing current treatment advice to magistrates and non-clinical staff members.
A tertiary qualification in health, social work, welfare or related field with emphasis in AOD specifically is required.
