Situated between Kingaroy and Dalby, this operation spans over 7,500 acres, featuring black soil creek flats to rugged spotted gum ridges; it is an environment that enriches every aspect of work. Their impressive feedlot supports 3,000 Standard Cattle Units (SCU) equipped with state-of-the-art yards. The feedlot is complemented by 300 hectares of cropping land and 60 hectares of irrigation.
High-density rotational grazing is skilfully managed across 15 paddocks, optimising land use while maintaining the health of 3,000 to 6,000 trade cattle. This showcases their unwavering passion and dedication to continually striving to redefine agricultural excellence while upholding the highest standards of environmental responsibility. The Role:
Two experienced station hands with strong horse and stock skills are sought to become integral members of the dynamic team. Working across the backgrounding and feedlotting operations, no two days will be the same. Adaptability to change and identifying opportunities for improvement will be essential attributes as the program continually evolves to enhance pasture health and cattle welfare. Predominantly stock-centred roles, your specific responsibilities will entail drafting cattle for various purposes, managing their entries and exits, and providing support during mustering activities. You will be trained in and expected to utilise low-stress cattle handling techniques to ensure the safety and well-being of the animals.
Additionally, general infrastructure and machinery repair and maintenance will form part of your role and will include water infrastructure. You will also assist in unloading commodity trucks, mixing feeds according to dietary requirements, and delivering them efficiently across the feedlot. Machinery operations skills will enable you to assist with maintaining access roads, as well as clearing and building dams to manage water resources effectively.
Quality communication, organisational, and record-keeping skills will also assist in your success when monitoring animal health and managing records related to feedlot operations. Accurate records of cattle movements, feed inventory, machinery maintenance schedules, and any other necessary administrative tasks are imperative to support the smooth running of the operation.
