About the RoleJohn Paul College is seeking passionate Drama Coaches (Theatre Assistants) to join our esteemed Performing Arts Department, situated on our beautiful campus just 20 minutes from Brisbane CBD. Our School of Performing Arts is highly regarded for the professionalism of our productions and performances.
As a Theatre Assistant, you will lead our popular after-school drama program for primary grades 4-6 and senior grades 7-12. This program offers young performers the opportunity to explore various theatrical styles through both performances and workshops.
About YouYou are a motivated, energetic, and engaging Speech and Drama teacher or coach dedicated to nurturing the talents of students of all abilities. You excel at leading comprehensive performance programs and are committed to dramatic excellence.
You thrive in collaborative environments, working seamlessly with colleagues and students, but are also a self-starter capable of managing projects, performances, and classes independently. Your excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines are complemented by a deep understanding of dramatic talent and a commitment to developing students' abilities.
You have formal performance arts training and/or experience teaching speech and drama to primary school children. You quickly build positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
This position requires availability on an adhoc basis, currently Wednesday to Friday afternoons (or both) from 3 pm to 5 pm, with additional time needed for occasional student performance events at the end of each semester. A Working With Children Blue Card is required for this role, and successful employment screening for child-related work is mandatory.
