(CRDVS) aims to use its specialist knowledge and skills to prevent domestic and family violence in the community and empower those affected by it.

We seek to do this by providing a confidential, comprehensive, and client-centred quality service to all vulnerable clients free of charge. CRDVS at all times strives to uphold high levels of professionalism and accountability.
How You'll Make a DifferenceWe are now looking for a full-time Domestic Violence Assistance Worker based in Cairns, QLD. This role provides initial client support and administrative functions, reporting to the Business and Finance Manager, and supports the overall operation and objectives of the organization.
More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Providing a warm welcome and initial response to clients in person or via telephoneConducting basic risk assessments and offering referral informationProviding information with protection order applications for victims of domestic violenceMaintaining accurate and confidential client records as per organisational policiesSupporting the planning and execution of the Annual General MeetingManaging administrative tasks related to Human Services Quality Framework auditsAssisting with data management and regular updates of the ChilliDB databaseParticipating in professional development and team cooperation to enhance service effectivenessWhat You'll Bring to the TeamTo qualify, you will need a Certificate III or Certificate IV in Community Services, Diploma in Office and Business Administration, or be working towards a relevant degree in the social or behavioural sciences (e.g., Psychology, Social Work, Counselling). Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:
Demonstrated experience in administration or reception rolesSkills in basic crisis support, risk assessment, and information referralInterpersonal skills with proven ability to work cooperatively within a teamCapacity to work within organisational guidelines and relevant legislationComputer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applicationsAbility to rapidly acquire knowledge of legislation impacting domestic and family violenceAs our ideal candidate, you will possess strong communication skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure, traits that will enable you to succeed in this challenging yet rewarding role. You will also be someone who values teamwork and continuous professional development, aligning well with our mission-driven culture.
This is a role for a dedicated advocate looking to make a significant impact in the lives of individuals affected by domestic and family violence, providing essential support at a critical point of need.
Please Note: All applicants must hold (or obtain) a current C Class driver's licence, a Working With Children Card and a formal police criminal history check.
