About the role
Barwon Health is in search of an exceptional Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Officer to support our journey toward a more inclusive and diverse workplace. In this role, you will support the development and implementation of a range of DEI strategies, programs, and initiatives designed to cultivate an environment where every employee is valued, respected, and empowered to contribute their unique viewpoints and life experiences. Your pivotal role will be the driving force behind the advancement of diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout all levels of Barwon Health, embedding the value of inclusion in our organisational culture.
Key responsibilities
Lead the development of strategy that reflects Barwon Health's values regarding recruitment, retention, inclusion, engagement, and development of key target groups to create an inclusive and supportive workplace culture.
Collaborate with HR, leadership, and various teams to integrate DEI principles into recruitment, hiring, onboarding, training, and career development processes.
Assist Barwon Health to meet requirements under the Gender Equality Act 2020, including:
Support implementation, monitoring, and reporting of Barwon Health's Gender Equality Action Plan 2021-2025.
Contribute to the development of future Gender Equality Action Plans, including workplace gender auditing, data analysis and interpretation, conducting consultations and writing up.
Establish and maintain metrics to measure the effectiveness of DEI programs and initiatives, regularly assessing progress and making data-driven recommendations for improvement.
Develop communication strategies to raise awareness of DEI efforts and celebrate diversity achievements throughout the organization.
Stay informed about industry best practices, trends, and legal requirements related to diversity, equity, and inclusion, incorporating them into Barwon Health's policies and practices.
Requirements
Significant experience and/or qualifications related to human resources, diversity and inclusion or related disciplines.
Proven work experience in the DEI space, as a Diversity Officer, or in a similar role, with a focus on implementing successful DEI strategies and programs.
In-depth knowledge of DEI principles, best practices, and emerging trends in diversity and inclusion.
Familiarity with applicable labor laws and regulations related to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Strong data analysis and interpretation skills, with the ability to use metrics to drive decision-making and measure the impact of DEI initiatives.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with employees at all levels and build a culture of inclusivity.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and influence stakeholders to champion DEI initiatives.
Sensitivity to cultural differences and a commitment to promoting equity and fairness in the workplace.
