Where you'll be working
The Mental Health Intensive Care Unit, Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital. The Hornsby Mental Health Intensive Care Unit (MHICU) is a 12 bed specialist resource available within the NSLD MHDA which is reserved to provide Psychiatric Intensive Care to consumers identified as presenting with high degree of acute clinical risk, diagnostic and management complexity or acute symptomology of a mental illness/disorder.
What you'll be doing The Diversional Therapist provides care coordination, group and individual interventions, using principles of recovery-oriented practice, bio-psychosocial and rehabilitation to consumers. The Diversional Therapist works as part of the multidisciplinary team, sharing generic work and offering discipline specific interventions.
People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background encouraged to apply. Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
Bachelor or post graduate degree of health science or applied science in leisure, recreation or diversional therapy and eligibility for membership with Diversional and Recreation Therapy Australia. Demonstrate skills and knowledge in the provision of a recreation service to consumers, carers and families requiring health education, leisure services and bio-psychosocial interventions. Demonstrated ability to prioritise and manage workload demands, meet deadlines and complete activities (including ability to work within scope of practice and seek assistance when required).
