Magdalene Catholic College is a systemic co-educational high school in the Macarthur region within the Diocese Wollongong. Established to support the communities around Camden, Picton, Narellan and the Oaks, the College is now in its 26th year of operation. The College has 1160 students from Years 7-12. The College provides a learning environment which places students at the centre. The value the College places into the holistic growth of its students is fostered by high expectations, quality relationships and academic success for all. The College Motto: Quia Dominum Vidi ("Because I have seen the Lord") is inspired by the College's Patron Saint, Mary Magdalene, who, as the first witness to the resurrection, gave strength to the Disciples.
A temporary full time position (part time may be considered) commencing 31 January 2025 until 19 December 2025. The successful applicant will be required to provide learning support for students with individualised needs as well as teaching various Learning Support classes.
The role of Diverse Learning Teacher exists to support teachers through identifying and responding to the additional learning needs of students, and to assist students with additional learning and support needs through targeted interventions, in class, small group and individual support.
ESSENTIAL SELECTION CRITERIA Demonstrate a deep understanding and commitment to the mission and purpose of the Catholic School within the broader Catholic Church. Create and maintain an orderly, safe and supportive learning environment based on the principles of PB4L. Apply knowledge of the diverse needs of students to support their full participation in learning. Ability to plan for and implement effective teaching and learning across various KLAs. Use a range of assessment strategies and analyse data to inform student learning. Demonstrate commitment to engage professionally with colleagues, parents/carers and the wider College community. DESIRABLE SELECTION CRITERIA: Up-to-date knowledge of NCCD procedures and policies including experience working with students with various learning needs. Willingness to create and run student interventions. The ability to work across a variety of areas including literacy, numeracy, behaviour management, organisation and social skills development, to enhance the development of confident and capable learners would also be of great benefit in this role. GENERAL CAPABILITIES Well-developed interpersonal skills. Well-developed oral and written communication skills. Strong organisational skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. QUALIFICATIONS Appropriate qualifications for teaching/Learning Support. Level B Accreditation in accordance with To Work, Teach and Lead policy or a commitment to gain level within the first 5 years of employment with CEDoW. The applicant must be registered to teach with NESA. WORKING WITH CHILDREN CLEARANCE This role is classified as child related work and therefore a Working With Children Check (WWCC) is required prior to your employment with CEDoW.
