About the Role: The position will lead the ongoing development of a framework for family therapy for RCH Mental Health including establishing and implementing strategies to embed and integrate family therapy across the community mental health teams and Banksia Inpatient Unit. This includes developing the referral pathways for family therapy, establishing discipline-specific family therapy interventions and leading the recruitment of family therapists. The Royal Commission into Victoria's Mental Health System recommended family therapy be increasingly used in Level 5 tertiary Infant, Child and Family Area Mental Health and Wellbeing Services and the successful candidate will lead this work for the RCH Mental Health Service ensuring the development of family inclusive skills in all mental health clinicians. This position will work closely with other Discipline Seniors in Mental Health and be an integral part of the training and development team. This position would be expected to work across all sites of the service as required.
Classification for this position will range from: Grade 4 Occupational Therapist (HR9 – HR12)
Grade 4 Social Worker (HR25 – HR28)
Grade 5 Registered Psychiatric Nurse (NP51)
To be successful in this role you will have: Demonstrated excellent clinical skills in delivering family therapyDemonstrated experience in leadership and professional supervision of Family Therapy clinicians and studentsA commitment and evidence of evidence-based practice and continuing professional development including an ability to find and apply evidence in decision-makingHighly developed written and verbal communication skills and inter-personal skillsDemonstrated awareness and understanding of legal obligations when working in a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service context in VictoriaYour skills and experience: Master of Clinical Family Therapy or equivalent and clinical membership of the Australian Association of Family TherapyDepending on discipline, required years of experience in accordance with the EBA will applyAdvanced skills working with infants, children, young people and families with mental health problemsDemonstrated effectiveness in working in true partnership with other community mental health teams and community/family welfare agencies to plan and implement effective interventions for infants, children and young people experiencing complex mental health problemsExperience in providing quality clinical/professional supervision to staff and studentsDemonstrated skills, knowledge, and behaviours in successfully leading change initiativesDemonstrated ability to manage and mentor staffIf this sounds like you, click here to view the position description.
About the Department: RCH Mental Health is a Level 5 tertiary Infant, Child and Family Area Mental Health and Wellbeing Service and comprises community and hospital-based services. This includes an Intake and Assessment Team, Adolescent Inpatient Unit and various specialist teams based at Parkville and three interdisciplinary outpatient teams located at Travancore, St Albans and Hoppers Crossing.
