Selection Criteria Selection Criteria: SC1 Implementation of Disability Inclusion · Demonstrated ability to actively lead whole-school improvement initiatives in the area of disability inclusion and to provide strategic advice to the Executive Leadership Team regarding the allocation of Disability Inclusion funding, resources, and initiatives to enhance learning outcomes for students.
SC2 Knowledge of learning needs · Knowledge and understanding of students with disabilities and additional needs, and impact on student learning and educational outcomes. Role Role Description: The Disability Inclusion Leader will lead the implementation, management and monitoring of the schools¿ approach to Disability Inclusion. The role will oversee significant resources and funding and provide expert advice to the Executive leadership team on the strategic direction of Disability Inclusion at Edenbrook Secondary College.
The Disability Inclusion Leader will ensure students with disability and additional needs are engaged in education and meeting their learning goals. To do this they work collaboratively with the school¿s leadership, wellbeing, learning support and teaching staff. They also work collaboratively with services/teams outside school, which may include Health and Wellbeing Inclusion Workforces, liaising with Student Support Services key contacts and external therapists. The Disability Inclusion Leader plays a key role in coordinating the team around the learner.
The Disability Inclusion Leader will work with Teaching, Learning Support and Wellbeing staff to ensure the establishment of student support groups (SSGs) for all students who may benefit from a Disability Inclusion meeting and ensure each student with disability and additional needs has a quality IEP.
Specialised professional roles will carry a high level of independence and accountability where suitable scope is provided to achieve objectives. The Disability inclusion Leader is accountable for the development and delivery of key services that are integral to the effective operation of the school. They provide a range of services and/or undertake the analysis of complex problems that form part of policy framework.
A role at this range includes: Professional support management responsibilities, including the management of a major school or network function, initiative or project, or Department targeted strategy.
Responsibilities Responsibilities of the Disability & Inclusion Leader Lead the implementation, management, and monitoring of Disability Inclusion at Edenbrook Secondary College. Provide strategic advice to the Executive Leadership Team regarding the allocation of Disability Inclusion funding, resources, and initiatives to enhance learning outcomes for students. Managing and timetabling classroom support team to best support student inclusion and outcomes Prepare and make submissions for funding to support Disability Inclusion. Management and oversight of creation of appropriate Disability Support Profiles. Provide expert advice to families, sub schools and teaching staff that enhances the learning opportunities of tier 2 and tier 3 students. Manage the support of OoHC and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, ensuring all departmental guidelines are met. Implement and monitor a case management process for tier 3 students. Support school staff and the SSG to prepare and gather supporting information for Disability Inclusion profile meetings and determine whether other students with disability and additional needs could benefit from an IEP (Individual Education Plan). Be an advocate and champion for students with disability and additional needs ensuring students have voice and agency in the creation of their learning goals. Conduct school-based meetings with students, parents, sub schools and teaching staff. Play a key role in supporting students with disability and additional needs to make a smooth transition to secondary school, ensuring there are effective arrangements in place for efficient transfer of information between services and schools (the transition from primary to secondary school is particularly important to ensure continuity of support for students with disability and additional needs) Assist in the collection and collation of data for the NCCD data collection process. Act as a source of advice for staff about differentiated teaching strategies appropriate for individual students with disability and with additional needs. Coordinate support for students with additional needs to undertake work experience and VET programs as required. Maintain confidential case notes, records and statistical information in accordance with professional guidelines, ethical codes, health records, privacy legislation and school requirements. Other related duties as decided by the Executive Team.
