About the RoleAs a Disability Support Worker or Team Leader, you will be responsible for:
Assisting clients with personal care, daily living activities, and community engagement.Implementing positive behavior support strategies for clients with Prader-Willi Syndrome and other complex needs.Following restrictive practices guidelines, including managing environmental, chemical, and sharps-related restrictions.Monitoring and supporting clients' health needs, such as diabetes management and adhering to strict food plans.Accurately completing shift notes, incident reports, and data collection to support individual care plans.Collaborating with the team to deliver the best outcomes and reviewing service plans regularly.Maintaining professional boundaries and adhering to the NDIS Code of Conduct and our company's standards.Skills Required to Support Clients with Prader-Willi SyndromeUnderstanding of Prader-Willi Syndrome: Knowledge of the condition, including behavioral and health-related aspects such as compulsive eating and food security measures.Experience with Challenging Behaviors: Ability to de-escalate situations, maintain a calm demeanor, and manage manipulation effectively.Behavioral Support Experience: Familiarity with restrictive practices and behavior management techniques.Resilience and Adaptability: Capability to stay composed under pressure and respond proactively to the clients' needs.Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication to build relationships and document care appropriately.Attention to Detail: Ability to follow care plans precisely, including strict dietary requirements.What We OfferCompetitive Pay: Earn up to $44.39 per hour, with weekend rates up to $79.90 per hour.Benefits: 11% superannuation, 5 weeks of annual leave, and access to onsite training.Career Growth: Opportunities for career progression within the disability sector.Flexible Work Options: Part-time and casual positions available to suit your lifestyle.Training Provided: Comprehensive training on Prader-Willi Syndrome, diabetes management, and restrictive practices to support your development.Qualifications and RequirementsCertificate III in Individual Support, Aged Care, or higher (or willingness to obtain).Right to work in Australia.Current Working with Children (WWC) Check.NDIS Worker Screening Check.Valid Australian driver's license.Experience working with challenging behaviors, restrictive practices, or disability support preferred.Why Geelong?Our locations across the suburbs of Geelong, Victoria, offer the opportunity to work close to home while making a difference in the local community.
